Transgender golfer Hailey Davidson has hit back at friends who she says shunned her after they were banned from a women’s professional golf tour.

Davidson, 30, who was born in Scotland but now lives in Florida, won the tour, known as NXXT Golf, in January.

On Friday, NXXT changed its eligibility criteria to allow biological players to compete after Davidson sparked backlash for winning the tour.

Initially, NXXT had stuck to its policy of allowing trans women to participate in the competition alongside those who were born female, only to backtrack.

In a post on her Instagram early Saturday, Davidson said, “You really learn people’s true colors in times like these.”

“Such a huge amount of people turn their back on you when you need it most.”

The tour announced on International Women’s Day that it had reversed its gender policy and that, with immediate effect, competitors had to be biologically female at birth to participate.

A statement from the tour said the decision was made in an effort to underscore the organization’s “commitment to maintaining the integrity of women’s professional golf and ensuring fair competition.”

“As we navigate the changing sports landscape, it is crucial to uphold the competitive integrity that is the cornerstone of women’s sports,” said NXXT CEO Stuart McKinnon.

‘Our revised policy is a reflection of our unwavering commitment to celebrating and protecting the achievements and opportunities of female athletes. Protected categories are a fundamental aspect of sport at all levels, and it is essential for our Tour to defend these categories for biological women, ensuring a level playing field.’

“NXXT Golf is honored to lead the promotion and advancement of women’s golf, providing a platform that not only highlights the exceptional talent of female golfers around the world but also ensures that competition remains fair for all of our players,” he added.

Davidson had last competed in the NXXT at the Royal St. Cloud Women’s Championship last week, where she finished in a tie for 24th with a score of 10 over par.

After one win and two second-place finishes in nine events this year, Davidson currently sits in second place in the Road to the Epson Tour standings.

In a post after the ruling was handed down, Davidson posted on social media saying: “Effective immediately, I have been removed (banned) from the next 3 NXXT tournaments that I had already signed up for and been approved to play.” “.

“They changed their policy mid-season, after I already signed up and came in second in the Player of the Year race.”

She added: “This is a huge slap in the face to all female athletes, to be told that any man can make the transition and beat them, regardless of the lifetime of hard work those women put in.”

“You think you’re attacking me, but you’re actually attacking and belittling all the other athletes.”

Davidson last competed as a men’s golfer in 2015, after which he began hormone therapy treatments and underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2021.
