A member of staff who looked remarkably like the Duke of Sussex was smartly dressed and on hand to help carry and put on the elaborate floral outfits worn by attendees.
He was photographed helping Tyla with her Hourglass look, standing behind Rita Ora and Taika Waititi, and holding the train of dresses on the red carpet.
At the event, which celebrates The Garden of Time, the body was also seen double walking behind American rapper Queen Latifah in her bird of paradise print dress.
The real Harry and his wife Meghan Markle did not attend the event, which raises funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, is one of two British royals who attended when she appeared, newly divorced, in 1996.
Prince Andrew’s daughter, Princess Beatrice, also attended in 2018.

Queen Latifah, 54, wowed in a gorgeous black dress adorned with a bird of paradise decoration while attending the fashion show in New York on Monday.
The shimmering dress cascaded to the floor and was paired with a sleek black coat, complete with the same floral print.
She was joined by her partner, Eboni Nichols.
Queen Latifah, whose real name is Dana Elaine Owens, sported a shoulder-length hairstyle along with a flawless coat of makeup and dazzling earrings.
Prince Harry’s lookalike was also seen behind singer Janelle Monáe in a custom Vera Wang dress, who was standing next to her.
She wore a silver and purple sequin dress with flowers handmade from recycled plastic bottles.
He was also seen crouching next to the train of The Crown actress Elizabeth Debicki’s gold Dior dress and then directing her.
The 33-year-old rose to fame in the UK after her portrayal of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, in Netflix’s The Crown.
Posting screenshots of the event on social media, one person said: “Oh they made Prince Harry work at the Met Gala good for him.”
Another added: “I honestly thought for a split second that Prince Harry had gotten a new job holding people’s dresses at the Met Gala.”

But the royal and his wife were not at last night’s event, despite presenter Anna Wintour previously saying Meghan Markle would be a “dream guest”.
