Harry Styles’ mother, Anne Twist, shared her grief over the sudden passing of her former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne at age 31 on Wednesday.
Anne, 56, took to Instagram to post a broken heart emoji on a black screen, with the caption: “Just a boy…” alongside another broken heart.
Her 2.5 million followers expressed similar sentiments, with one writing: “Tragic and heartbreaking.”
‘I’m in total shock. My deepest condolences to his family and also to his family and friends,” added another.
Liam died in Buenos Aires after falling from a hotel. Several witnesses said Payne had fallen from his room at the Hotel Casa Sur Palmero shortly after 5 pm (ART) on Wednesday night.

The English star rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction, alongside his former bandmates Harry, 30, Niall Horan, 31, Zayn Malik, 31, and Louis Tomlinson, 32.
The pop star had reportedly arrived in the Latin American country earlier this month to attend his former bandmate Horan’s concert.
Local police have since launched an investigation into the sudden death, as tributes flood in in the wake of the tragedy.
A statement from local police said they arrived at the hotel after being “reported of an aggressive man who may have been under the influence of drugs and alcohol.”
Authorities heard a loud sound in the yard before discovering his body shortly after 5 p.m., the BBC reported.
According TMZLiam “had been acting erratically in the hotel lobby and smashed his laptop” before he “had to be taken back to his room.”
Police had received a call from a hotel worker requesting urgent help for a drunk guest, according to audio related to the case obtained from the Buenos Aires Ministry of Security.
“When he’s conscious, he’s destroying the entire room and we need someone to be sent,” the worker said.
The director of emergency medical services, Alberto Crescenti, said Liam had suffered “very serious injuries after falling from a third floor into an interior courtyard.”
“We verified his identity using the passport he had,” he said.
‘Later we discovered that he had been a famous singer. Unfortunately, the injuries he had suffered as a result of the fall proved fatal. There was no possibility of resuscitating him.’

Crescenti told Argentine newspaper Clarín that “the team saw that he apparently had a fracture at the base of his skull.”
His body was taken to the local morgue where an autopsy will be performed.
Unverified images claiming to be Liam’s hotel room completely trashed have since emerged online, with one image showing a smashed TV screen.
The star’s latest Snapchat post showed him happily posing with partner Kate Cassidy as they looked in the mirror, a photo that was originally taken last August.
Other posts from the final moments of the star’s life showed him enjoying lunch in his hotel room, where he revealed that the couple had “woken up at 1pm every day” and had decided on Forest Gump as their costume. Halloween.
Another tragic selfie was captioned: “Beautiful day in Argentina” before the star shared a photo from her hotel, writing: “Happy to have had some time off” followed by a heart emoji.
He shared another photo with Kate with the caption: “Quality time.”
There has been an outpouring of tributes online, with fellow former X Factor contestants Jedward writing: ‘RIP Liam Payne. Our deepest condolences to his friends and family.’
They added: “Sending strength to Cheryl and her son Bear, and the entire One Direction family.”
Paris Hilton wrote: “Very upsetting to hear the news of Liam Payne’s passing. Sending love and condolences to his family and loved ones. RIP my friend.
Stephen Bartlett wrote: “I can’t believe what I’m reading about Liam Payne. Absolutely heartbreaking.”

He and his former bandmates Harry, Niall, Zayn and Louis were brought together by Simon Cowell and former judge Nicole Scherzinger, who saw their potential as a group.

While Liam’s sartorial choices leaned towards a more conventional style, he was asked what he thinks of Harry’s ‘big pants’ and he didn’t mince words.
He replied: ‘…I couldn’t get into that. “I would look fucking… It would look weird.”
That same year he also spoke to Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa and said: “I haven’t seen or heard from Harry for a while, which is fine, everyone needs their space.”
‘Would I like to get back together? Yes, definitely. “I don’t see any reason why we can’t, but if he feels that way, it’s really up to him.”
