Harry Kane became the Emirates’ highest-scoring away player after scoring from a penalty to give Bayern Munich the lead in Tuesday’s Champions League clash.

The former Tottenham striker returned to north London for the first time since moving to Germany in the summer and needed just 32 minutes to find the back of the net.

William Saliba was at fault as he tripped Leroy Sane in the penalty area to give Kane the chance to give the visitors the lead from the penalty spot.

The England captain made no mistake as he flicked the ball into the corner after sending David Raya the wrong way to score his 15th goal against Arsenal in 19 appearances.

Kane celebrated emphatically after giving his team the lead against rival Tottenham, as complaints of discontent echoed through the stadium that was filled only with Arsenal fans due to a sanction imposed on Bayern by UEFA.

Ally McCoist praised Kane’s brilliant shot and praised the world-class striker for being “very brave” in the way he converted the chance from 12 yards.

“You just knew, he concentrates, he concentrates on a little delay in the run and he throws it in. He hits it, he’s bright, he’s confident and it’s a very brave thing,” McCoist said on TNT Sports.

“Talking about subplots in this cup tie in which Kane returns to their North London rivals was always a subplot,” he added.

Former Manchester United and Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves was equally impressed with Kane’s goal and criticized Arsenal for being inexperienced in the way they conceded goals.

“Maybe a little inexperience due to the two goals conceded, they were very comfortable and much more stable this season, but this is a great test for them,” he said.

Arsenal initially took the lead through Bukayo Saka in the opening minutes of the match, causing concern within the Bayern ranks.

Former Arsenal striker Serge Gnabry grabbed a valuable equalizer before Kane put Thomas Tuchel’s side ahead for the first time in the match.

Kane’s goal was his 39th of the season in all competitions and moved him ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland as the Champions League’s top scorer with seven goals.
