Harry Kane struck home an absolute belt from a free-kick in the opening minutes of Tottenham’s home game against Brentford – in what could be his last home game for Spurs.

The England captain broke the deadlock for the hosts at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium just over seven minutes into the Premier League encounter on Saturday afternoon, after Juventus loanee Dejan Kulusevski fired the ball back to Kane .

Brentford keeper David Raya couldn’t do anything against the searing strike as it flew into the top corner of the goal.

BT senior commentator Darren Fletcher said: “Simply stunning.”

As a co-commentary, Lucy Ward noted the importance of set pieces for Spurs this season. She added: “The script was written when they started chanting his name as the ref sorted the wall.”

Spurs are looking to continue their run for a European finish, but there remains a great deal of uncertainty over Kane’s future with the club.

Some reports suggest that Kane plans to see out his contract with Tottenham before leaving next summer on a free transfer.

But the club could also listen to offers to sell him this year. While Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has insisted he will not sell Kane to an English rival, Manchester United remain strong favorites to sign the 29-year-old out of season.

Peter Crouch has said that after speaking to Kane about his uncertain future at Tottenham, Man United are “the only real option” should he exit.

Another report suggested Kane’s representatives had met with PSG chief Luis Campos to discuss a move to the French capital this summer.

Levy has told Tottenham fans he understands their frustration that the club have failed to meet expectations, despite promising to work “tirelessly” to improve Spurs’ fortunes.
