Comedian Harry, 59, hosted the show, showing viewers hilarious home videos with a commentary from the host.

The iconic comedy series ran for a total of 31 seasons before being axed in 2022 and was a family favorite for years.

You’ve Been Framed allowed the public to submit their hilarious home videos for the enjoyment of their millions of fans.

Taxpayers received £250 for every video they submitted that made it onto TV, and Harry says some staff also got in on the action.

Harry revealed during an appearance on Hits Radio that the producers came up with creative ways to fill the episodes, while lining their pockets.

He said: “You could always spot a fake and we were quite tough on them.” They really only came in if we were short…

‘Actually, when I started doing the show, and this is true, the producer was getting married and needed the money for the wedding, so he was sending clips under different names.

‘He somehow managed to grab a hedgehog and make it fall off the draining board into the sink, handed it over and received £250. It’s a national scandal!’ MailOnline has approached ITV for comment.

The popular show was originally presented by Jeremy Beadle between 1990 and 1998, before being replaced by Lisa Riley until 2003.

Jonathan Wilkes held the role for a series between 2003 and 2004, before bosses brought in Harry, who hosted the show until its closure.

ITV canceled You’ve Been Frame as viewers turned to social media platforms such as YouTube and TikTok for funny clips.

In the entertainment program, the public sent their funny home videos. They were then paid a fee if their clip was featured.

Up to 15 million people tuned in during its peak, but viewing figures have declined and the last episode aired in August 2022.

A television insider said Sun: ‘The fact that You Have Been Framed has been shelved is a sad sign of the times.

‘It’s a different world to Jeremy Beadle’s heyday. Why would viewers tune into a show with funny videos when they could watch the same kinds of things on the Internet?

‘Silly clips are very popular on social media and the right video can go viral. It’s exciting to achieve this, even if you don’t earn the £250 fee You’ve Been Fram paid for contributions.’

Harry voiced 341 of the 701 that have been broadcast in the last 33 years.

People were previously asked to submit their videos for a fee, but the request was removed from recent Sunday reruns.

ITV also removed the You’ve Been Framed section of its website, which also invited people to contribute clips.

While the show was inexpensive to make, it took producers time to vet the videos, violence or deliberate injury was not permitted, and prepared scenarios were ignored.

Of some of the surprising content that was submitted, Harry previously said: “I can’t see the long list but I know there are a lot of fakes and a lot of sex videos.”

You’ve Been Framed was based on the Japanese show Fun TV With Kato-chan and Ken-chan, which first aired in 1986.

America’s Funniest Home Videos was released in 1989, before other versions were made around the world when home videos were at their peak using camcorders instead of digital devices.

Harry Hill previously revealed that old episodes of You’ve Been Framed required extensive refining as they featured jokes about dead and disgraced celebrities.

He told the Mirror: ‘It happens more and more that the person I’m referring to has died. And they had to remove a bunch of references after all those people were arrested as part of Operation Yewtree.

ITV bosses were forced to apologize in 2015 after it aired an old episode of You’ve Been Frame that contained a joke about Cilla Black banging her head on her “last show” on TV.

The star died of a stroke aged 72 after falling and hitting her head at her home in Marbella in August of that year while sunbathing on her private terrace.

Furious fans were left distraught and complained to ITV calling them “rude”, “sick” and “insensitive” for allowing the prank to air.
