Harry Garside has reflected on his ordeal in the domestic violence court case and revealed that boxing helped provide clarity during that turbulent period.
Garside, 26, was arrested by New South Wales Police in dramatic scenes at Sydney Airport as he returned home with his father after filming the reality show I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here ! in South Africa earlier this year.
Police dropped charges against the 26-year-old in a Sydney court after his legal team presented video evidence which they said showed his ex-girlfriend, Ashley Ruscoe, was the alleged aggressor during an incident on March 1 .
Garside had steadfastly maintained his innocence throughout the entire ordeal, but admitted it was a trying time.
“My palms are sweating right now,” he joked when asked about the criminal trial on The Project.

The 26-year-old boxer was falsely accused of domestic violence against his ex-partner Ash Ruscoe
Garside was acquitted and said boxing helped him maintain his concentration.
“It was hard, there is no denying it. I think it was very therapeutic… I kind of distracted myself with the Olympics to get over that, to disconnect from it, which I think I needed (to do).’
Garside has written a new book between training sessions for the Paris Games and says the exercise allowed him to figure it all out.
‘I think I’ll sit down and go over it and (say) “what happened?” I numbed him as much as I could.
It was exactly what I needed to make sure I could get through it and focus on the Olympic gold medal.
Reflecting on his preparations for Paris, Garside said: ‘Very good. Today is 50 days from my Olympic final date, August 7, which is incredible. I’m very excited.’
Ruscoe, 35, was arrested at her Bellevue Hill home in July and accused of assaulting and intimidating her ex-partner, Mr Garside.
Months later, Ruscoe, who works as a boxing trainer and wellness guru, was charged with two counts of intentional distribution of intimate images without consent.
