Harry and Meghan say that Megxit was never about privacy.

Meghan Markle & Prince Harry today denied quitting royal duties and emigrated in the US for privacy. This was as they justified their Netflix documentary that documented the most intimate moments during their courtship and marriage.

The Duke and Duchess shared dozens more photos and footage with their children Archie, Lilibet, and themselves at home. They also shared footage from their first dates, and footage of Harry proposing to Meghan, which she apparently ‘live-streamed to a friend.

The couple even handed over 15 hours of personal video they had recorded in the early months of 2020, according to director Liz Garbus, who dodged questions about how much control the Sussexes had over the shows, calling the completed series a ‘collaboration’.

Experts claim that their decision to abdicate their royal duties was a sign that they wanted to live privately. Harry said that Megxit would allow him and his family to live a quieter lifestyle. The couple have also launched a number of high-profile privacy court cases in the UK.

The Netflix documentary opens with the Duke of Sussex’s airport monologue about his emigration. It raises many questions about how they first decided to make it.

Harry &Amp; Meghan Docuseries' Video Diary With Meghan

Meghan On What She Says Is Her First Video Diary Entry

Meghan also appears in several video diary segments in the first episode, often on the brink of tears.

Ashley Hansen, their spokesperson for Megxit, dismissed the idea that Megxit was ever about privacy and told The New York Times: “Their statement announcing that they had decided to step back does not mention privacy and reiterates their desire for their roles and public duties.

“Any suggestion that this is not the case highlights a key point in this series. They choose to share their story on their terms and yet, the tabloid media has created a completely false narrative that permeates both press coverage and public opinion. They have the facts right in front of their faces’.

The Netflix series raises many questions about the original intention to make a documentary.

Episode 1’s Harry’s introduction monologue featured Harry staring at his mobile phone lens from Heathrow Airport’s VIP Windsor Suite. The couple had ended their royal duties in March 2020 and emigrated North America.

Director Liz Garbus took over from Garrett Bradley, who left the project. She said, “You’re right there in Harry’s Windsor Suite processing the fact he’s leaving his royal family for the very first time in your life.”

‘Then there were another clips with Meghan at her home, alone, fresh from the shower, her locks in a towel, and no makeup. She was processing on her own what their lives might be like.

“It’s very personal, raw and powerful and it made me appreciate their incredible weight. It confirmed the decision I made to explore how this historic break came about.

Harry’s memoir Spare will be out in January, and it is certain that privacy issues will be back in the forefront.

Harry spoke at a charity event in London hours after Megxit was announced in January 2020. He said that he had made the decision for his family to ‘take a leap forward into what I hope is a quieter lifestyle’.

Before Privacy rows dominated major events like Megxit

Archie’s birth was delayed in May 2019, so they could celebrate privately as a family. Dickie Arbiter, the Queen’s former spokesperson, said at the time that Archie’s birth was a complete disaster. The secrecy made a mockery out of the whole thing.

Oprah 2021, Meghan said to Oprah: “I believe everyone has a fundamental right to privacy. Basic. Basic. She denied that Megxit was about privacy. She pointed to their statement, which talked about financial independence for the royals in order to ’embark upon the next chapter in our lives.

It was discovered that the couple had begun filming themselves and giving interviews back in March 2020. This continued right up until August 2018, just weeks before the Queen’s passing.

A source said: ‘This was all being filmed while both the Duke of Edinburgh and the Queen – Harry’s grandparents – were suffering from serious ill-health and in the last few months of their lives.

“They even came over from mark Her Majesty’s Jubilee, while she was collaborating with the filmmakers, but not telling her what they were doing.

“That’s shameful, and cowardly. There are many people who are glad that the late Queen isn’t here to see it.

The pair, whose limited series was released on the streaming giant at 8am this morning in the UK, self-shot a number of intimate ‘video diaries’ for the show.

However, their timing suggests that they were intended to be a tell-all document. This is a dramatic departure from the September 2020 announcement by Netflix.

Actually, the Duke’s introductory monologue is actually shot from Heathrow Airport’s Windsor Suite. It was taken at the end of their last duties prior to Megxit in March 2020.

It’s one of few dated self-shot clips, but it suggests that the couple was already thinking about telling their story.

They were seen as working Royals at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey on March 9, just days before.

Half a year later a rumoured £88million deal with the streamer to talk about their lives was made public.

MailOnline’s royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that there were rumours and reports suggesting that they planned to exploit their royal status very early on.

“To my knowledge, nothing is confirmed as fact.” However, it is believed that Oprah wanted to interview them when they were senior working royals.

MailOnline was told by Norman Baker, a former MP and Royal commentator: “It may signify a long term plan to do something or just accumulations of stock footage.

“They clearly wanted to use the information at some point. Their knowledge of the Royal Family was effectively lost when they left the country.

“They are essentially mining past and future now.

‘They got £88million from Netflix so it’s very clear that now want their pound of flesh.’

The airport clip is shown several times in the first episode.

Harry explains it as follows: “Hi, so now we’re here on Tuesday, Wednesday the something of March. We’ve just completed our two weeks.

“Our final push, the list stint of Royal engagements.

Meghan is then seen in Vancouver (Canada) on a video similar to the one above.
