Harman and Samsung work together to beat the best wireless headphones from Sony

AKG Y500

While 8K TV & # 39; s stole the show at IFA 2018, there was also a fair amount of noise-canceling headphones in Berlin, especially the Sony WH-1000XM3 and the AKG N700NC. The first was announced for the American and British public, while the latter was announced as a single European product.

Thanks to the collaboration with Samsung, Harman is bringing its AKG noise canceling headphones state-of-the-art for $ 350 and will be released alongside two other models, the AKG Y500 and AKG Y100, which cost $ 150 or $ 100 respectively.

On the surface there are many similarities between the AKG N700NC and WH-1000XM3: not only are they equipped with wireless noise canceling headphones, but they also offer both adjustable noise reduction and Talk mode that let you hear the outside world.

That said, the Samsung and AKG claim that the N700NC has only about 20 hours of battery life after a charging time of two hours, compared to the 30 on the Sony WH-1000XM3. In addition, the Sony headphones support aptX, aptX HD and LDAC codec, while the AKG N700NC does not.

But it is not all bad. AKG & # 39; s bait in the hole is the Perfect Calls feature that could help to outperform the WH-1000XM3 in its weakest, most criticized area.

The AKG Y500 is slim and stylish and is available from today

In addition to the N700NC, the other headphones for the American release, the AKG Y500 and AKG Y100, are a pair of wireless on-ear and in-ear headphones.

The AKG Y500 offers a battery life of about 33 hours and is available in four colors (black, blue, green, pink), while the Y100 lasts up to 8 hours and is available in the same colors.

The AKG Y500 and Y100 will be available from today in the US with the N700NC scheduled for launch later this year.
