Almost four weeks after his release from FC Bayern, it is still not clear where and how Julian Nagelsmann will continue. According to an insider, there is still no decisive breakthrough in talks with Chelsea.
“Julian Nagelsmann has been in talks with Chelsea since Graham Potter was fired. Talks are ongoing and he is the favourite. But it is also important to stress that no decision has been made by the club so far. There is still room for change,” estimated Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano describes the current state of affairs in his column for the “CaughtOffside” portal.
The journalist added: “So everything remains open for Nagelsmann, but I think he would be an excellent option for Chelsea – a top coach, young and with modern ideas, someone for a longer period of time.”
Those responsible for Chelsea are not taking their time looking for the new head coach. Since Thomas Tuchel left in early September 2022, the Blues have been in free fall.
In the Premier League, caretaker manager Frank Lampard’s team finished an extremely disappointing eleventh place. In the Champions League quarterfinals against Real Madrid, there were two 0-2 defeats.
From FC Bayern to the Premier League?
Nagelsmann is said to have impressed the club management in the previous rounds of introductions.
According to “Sky”, his remarks were more popular than those of former Spain coach Luis Enrique, who is also considered a prime candidate for the Chelsea coaching position. Rúben Amorim (Sporting), Vincent Kompany (FC Burnley) and Abel Ferreira (Palmeiras) are also traded in London.
In addition, Mauricio Pochettino is also an option. The Argentine has been without a club since his stint at Paris Saint-Germain.
