Tennis pro Yannick Hanfmann caused a surprise at the ATP tournament in Houston.
The qualifier from Karlsruhe defeated second-seeded Tommy Paul (USA) in the round of 16 7:6 (8:6), 6:2. In the round of the last eight, the 31-year-old meets the American Marcos Giron or the Czech Tomas Machac.
After his opening win against the Japanese Yosuke Watanuki, Hanfmann had to be patient at the clay court tournament in the Texan metropolis. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday, but constant rain threw a spanner in the works for the organizers.
