Hamish and Zoë Foster Blake have revealed their unique approach to parenting.

The couple, who have been married since 2012 and share a son, Sonny, and a daughter, Rudy, said they sometimes take their children on separate vacations to be together.

Hamish, 41, said on Friday that he just spent four days camping on Queensland’s Fraser Island with his eight-year-old son.

Beauty entrepreneur Zoë, 42, also recently shared that she had taken her five-year-old daughter with her for girls’ time.

Hamish explained: “I don’t know much about parenting (in fact, I started a podcast to find out more), but one thing my wife and I have come across is the power of each year blocking off a few days to do a 1-on-1 trip with each child, then protecting that space fiercely.’

“You never know what the lasting memory of these trips will be, but that’s the point. You plan for the big moments, but it’s the little moments in between where the magic lies.’

He shared a sweet photo of him and his son running down the sand dunes after taking a dip at the beach and their matching bracelets.

“The only thing I can offer is that getting matching survival bracelets with a whistle so you can communicate through the thick walls of the tent when one of you is outside is a MUST for safety in the bush,” he added.

Several fans said they “loved” the unique idea.

Despite separate mini-breaks this week, Hamish and Zoë enjoyed a family bike trip in New Zealand last month, biking as a group along the Otago Central Rail Trail in the South Island.

Former journalist Zoë described the family affair as “so much fun”.

‘Sweet sassy molassy, it was fun. I’m as high as my a**bones are low. I had it all: nature, exercise, the outdoors, uninterrupted family time, great food, fart jokes, lots of dust, and nothing to do every day but walk under a perfect blue summer sky (the amazingly high UV radiation it was our fifth invisible). member) for lunch, and then travel back to our accommodation,’ he said at the time.

‘We rode the Otago Central Rail Trail, which used to be a working train line, (so it was nice and flat for our eight year old) (and our 42 year old) (me) which meanders through the majesty and fun of the South Island of New Zealand. We used a tour operator and created a trip that worked for our family (duration/time) which was 100km over four days, staying in cabins, bnbs and houses along the way.’

“We ate such great food, saw such beautiful scenery and had no batteries (although gosh, I gave it a push, filming while riding) and as parents we felt like we had entered a new era of parenting, one where our children are old enough to undertake more strenuous adventures and suffer from terrible hay fever, as they perspire.

She finished: ‘My husband has been a cyclist for years, he lives for his cycling trips and I have thoroughly enjoyed teasing him about his obsession. Too bad then that he can’t do this anymore, because I too am a person who looks forward to bike trips. Bring Mont Ventoux.
