- This follows a military operation that killed 170 people, the civil defence agency says.
The Health Ministry in Hamas-ruled Gaza said an Israeli strike on Saturday on a school killed 30 people, after a days-long military operation further south left around 170 dead, according to the civil defense agency.
Since July 6, at least eight schools, including the last one, have been attacked, leaving more than 100 people dead, according to a count provided by the Ministry of Health and a hospital source.
Most of Gaza’s 2.4 million people were displaced at least once during the war sparked by the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas militants in southern Israel and many sought refuge in school buildings, including the one hit Saturday.
The latest attack in the Deir el-Balah city area targeted the Khadija school, the Health Ministry said.
More than 100 people were injured, he added.

Further south, in the area of the city of Khan Yunis, around 170 people were killed and hundreds wounded during an Israeli operation that lasted several days there, the Gaza Civil Defense Agency said.
The figure came after the army warned on Saturday of further operations in the area and issued fresh evacuation orders for residents of Khan Yunis, where troops had earlier recovered the bodies of five Israelis.
The airstrike comes nine months after the start of a war sparked by Hamas’s October attack on southern Israel, which left 1,197 people dead, most of them civilians, according to Israeli figures.
The militants also captured 251 hostages, 116 of whom are still in Gaza, including 44 who the Israeli military says are dead.
