Halsey, 26, says she’s being treated like a ‘teen mom’ after announcing their pregnancy

Halsey speaks out about feeling judged by the public after announcing her pregnancy in January.

Earlier this year, the singer, who uses her/her pronouns, welcomed their first child, a boy named Ender, with their partner Alev Aydin.

Halsey, who wrote her latest album If I can’t have love, I want power, during the pregnancy, explained to Zane Lowe of Apple Music that she felt prepared to grow older, but that other people had doubts.

“I’m 26 and I’ve worked really hard for this pregnancy and it’s been like being financially independent. I’m pretty far along in my career. It feels like the right time for me to do it,” they explained.” And I was often treated like a teenage mother.”

The “Graveyard” singer said people criticized her for not being married and said she had “so much to do” in her career before becoming a mother. But Halsey noticed the downside if they’d waited at long to start a family.

“But then there’s also, ‘She worked too hard, she never had a family. She will die alone. She was too obsessed with work, she never found anyone,'” Halsey noted. “It’s a shame she won’t have children, her career won’t hold her back overnight.” OK. So nothing. So f*** ’em and I was like, I’m going to do what I want to do. You know what I mean? I was like, this is important to me.’

Halsey has been open about wanting to be a mother and has shared that she had multiple miscarriages over the years. The artist was previously diagnosed with endometriosis, a painful condition in which tissue grows outside the uterus, which could make conceiving a child all the more difficult.

“It’s the most inadequate thing I’ve ever felt,” she said the guard to lose her pregnancies. “Here I reach this out of control life, and I can’t do the only thing I was biologically put on this earth for. Then I have to go on stage and be this sex symbol of femininity and empowerment? It’s demoralizing.”

She added that the fact that motherhood was still a possibility for them was “a miracle.”

Whatever the public had to say about their parenting decision, Halsey is clearly overjoyed about motherhood. They recently shared a photo of themselves breastfeeding baby Ender – while wearing a cheetah print.

“Welcome to the jungle,” Halsey wrote in the post.

Earlier this month, the ‘Bad At Love’ artist shared a throwback maternity photo with the caption, ‘I never posted my favorite belly picture. Miss it already!’
