Halle Berry is paying tribute to her John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019) co-star Lance Reddick following his sudden death at the age of 60 on Friday.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, the actress wrote: ‘Sending my sincere condolences to the family and all those who knew and loved Lance. I will never forget the big smile and sincere hug that Lance gave me when I walked onto the set of John Wick for the first time.

She continued: ‘Her kind, sweet energy lit up every room she was in and her heart was bigger than anything in it! Heaven has another angel. We will miss you sweet friend!

The emotional post came along with a black-and-white photo of the Baltimore, Maryland native, which his wife Stephanie Reddick shared earlier that day.

“Lance was taken from us too soon,” Stephanie Reddick began in the post. ‘Thank you for all your overwhelming love, support and beautiful stories shared on these platforms over the last day. I look at your messages and I can’t begin to express how grateful I am to have you.

‘And to the thousands of Destiny players who played in a special tribute to Lance, thank you. Lance loved you as much as he loved the game,” he added, before concluding, “Donations can be made to momcares.org in Baltimore, his hometown.”

Reddick’s representatives confirmed his death in a statement to People on Friday, revealing that he had been found dead at his home in Los Angeles earlier that day.

Acclaimed actor Lance Reddick passed away suddenly this morning from natural causes. Lance was best known for his roles in The Wire, Bosch, Netflix’s Resident Evil, and the John Wick movies. He is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddick and his children Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick, the statement said.

We will miss Lance so much. Please respect his family’s privacy at this time,’ he concluded.

Reddick made his professional acting debut in a guest-starring role in an episode of the crime drama series New York Undercover (1996), which was quickly followed by another one-episode role in the detective drama Swift Justice (1996).

Two years later, he landed his first film role in the romantic drama Great Expectations (1998), starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Ethan Hawke, Hank Azaria, Chris Cooper, Anne Bancroft, and Robert De Niro.

He worked consistently in both mediums until landing possibly his breakout role as Cedric Daniels on HBO’s critically acclaimed series The Wire (2002-2008), which ran for 60 episodes over five seasons.

‘My love and prayers are with the family at this sad time. Lance was one of the most honest people she had ever met. Truly one of a kind his! RIP sweet king,” said Berry, 56.

The Wire has been widely hailed as one of the best television series of all time.

He went on to play Phillip Broyles, one of the leading roles on the Fox sci-fi series Fringe (2008-2015) for five seasons.

Many fans also know Reddick for his character Charon in all four John Wick movies (2014, 2017, 2019, 2023) starring Keanu Reeves in the title role.

The cast had already kicked off the press tour for John Wick: Chapter 4, ahead of its March 24 general release in the US, when news of Reddick’s death broke.

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the loss of our loving friend and colleague Lance Reddick,” Reeves and the film’s director, Chad Stahelski, shared in a joint statement. ‘He was a consummate professional and a pleasure to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, his family and friends.’

The duo ended the statement by revealing that they had dedicated this latest sequel “in his loving memory.” We will miss him very much.’
