Halle Berry praised Pierce Brosnan for “restoring her faith in men” after their collaboration on 2002’s Die Another Day.

The 58-year-old actress, who played Jinx alongside the 71-year-old Hollywood icon in the James Bond film, expressed her deep gratitude for Brosnan’s chivalrous behavior both on and off the set.

“He will always be my Bond, always,” said the Oscar winner. Cabling on Friday.

“I’m a big fan of Pierce Brosnan,” she continued. “He restored my faith in men thanks to that movie. There couldn’t be a more chivalrous human being than Pierce Brosnan.”

At the time of filming Die Another Die, Halle was in a high-profile relationship with singer Eric Benét, whom she married in 2001. Their romance was short-lived, as they divorced in 2005 amid rumours of infidelity.

Before marrying Benét, Halle dated baseball player David Justice. They were married from 1992 to 1997, amid rumors that Justice was abusive toward her.

Halle then had a notable relationship with French actor Olivier Martinez, whom she dated from 2009 to 2012 and with whom she shares a son.

After her relationship with Olivier Martinez, Halle Berry dated actor and model Gabriel Aubry from 2005 to 2010, with whom she has a daughter, Nahla.

Both relationships ended amid several personal and public challenges.

Halle is now dating singer Van Hunt. The couple has been together since 2020 and has been open about their relationship on social media.

As for her time filming with Pierce, the star admitted that playing a Bond girl “wasn’t on her bucket list” initially, but stressed that she felt “really honored” to have become a part of the franchise as Jinx.

She said: ‘Bond wasn’t on my bucket list, no, to be in one, but I loved the films, always, but having been in one, it makes me feel like I’m part of cinematic history. Those films are iconic. They’ll always be part of our history, and I feel really honoured to have been part of one, especially with Pierce.’

In 2020, she also revealed that Pierce literally saved her life during filming.

“He will always be my Bond, always,” the Oscar winner told Wired on Friday.

“I was supposed to be all sexy, trying to seduce him with a fig, and then I ended up choking on it and he had to get up and do the Heimlich maneuver,” the actress revealed on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.

“That was not sexy at all,” she added, laughing. “James Bond knows how to do the Heimlich maneuver! He was there for me, he will always be one of my favorite people in the entire world.”

Berry stars alongside Mark Wahlberg in the new action thriller The Union, in which a man is recruited by his high school girlfriend for a high-stakes U.S. intelligence mission.

Reflecting on the film, the actress explained that it was “fun” to have the opportunity to tell such a story because it made her reflect on her romances when she was young.

She told E! News: “It was fun. I think a lot of us fantasize about that guy who got away or what my life would have been like if I had stayed with my high school boyfriend.”

The actress married for the second time in 2001 to Eric Benet. They divorced in 2005.

Meanwhile, her 53-year-old co-star stressed that the film’s plot could help give men hope that they can get second chances with women from their past.

He told Fox News Digital: ‘Halle, she and I go back a long time, and this movie is going to be great because it’s every man’s fantasy to think that they had a chance with Halle Berry.

“They were childhood sweethearts and they got back together. He basically waited 25 years for her to come back, for her to walk through that door and into his life, and she did, and there’s nothing he wouldn’t do to prove himself to her if he had a second chance.

“For me, that was the whole motivation of the character: to do everything possible to not screw up again.”
