Halle Berry plays a disgraced fighter who scrubs toilets and decides to return to the ring in the trailer for her directorial debut Bruised.
Jackie Justice (Berry) was once a famous fighter and now worked as a maid.
But when her estranged six-year-old son returns to her life after his father’s death, Jackie decides to give fighting another chance.

The trailer shows Jackie learning about the death of her son’s father while the boy sits outside her porch in the rain.
“That’s your son,” Jackie is told. “His father passed away.”
A shocked Jackie puts her hand to her mouth in response to the news.
After her son’s return, Jackie seems to be seriously considering fighting again.

Although she is a maid, Jackie insists she is content with her life.
‘I don’t want to fight. I’m happy!’ Jackie insists on her boyfriend.
“They make you scrub toilets. Does that serve your purpose?’ he answers.
Meanwhile, she tries to build a relationship with her child.

“We’re strangers now,” she tells her son. “But I am all you have.”
Jackie begins to roll up her sleeves at an illegal fight, where there are no umpires and no rules.
Though not at her best, Jackie impresses by throwing a jar of cherries at her opponent’s face before finishing him off with a headbutt.

“I saw what you did,” says a man watching the fight. “I’m offering you a second chance. Are you taking it?’

Jackie starts training but initially struggles to keep up in the ring and impress trainers.
“I have five other girls, all strong, faster, younger,” says a woman who works in the studio. ‘I apologize. I just don’t see it.’

“You used to be Jackie Justice,” she tells Halle’s character.

Jackie trains rigorously in preparation for her big fight, and a fight almost breaks out between her and her opponent Lady Killer at what appears to be their weigh-in.

‘Are you afraid? I used to be scared too,” Jackie tells her son as he looks at a flyer advertising her upcoming fight. “Sometimes I’m still scared.”
“This is your chance,” says the man who initially recruited her. “Show them all the real Jackie Justice.”
Finally the big day comes, and Jackie is seen throwing her competitor to the ground.
The upcoming Netflix movie will premiere on the streaming platform and select theaters on November 24, 2021.
