Halle Berry cleared up long-standing rumors that she and her Monster’s Ball co-star Billy Bob Thornton were actually having sex in the film’s very explicit sex scene.
The movie star addressed current rumors – which have proliferated since the film’s 2001 release – about intimate scenes, while appearing on Dax Shepard Podcast Armchair Expert.
‘We had this very explicit love scene. There’s an urban legend that says we really were screwed; I’ve heard it and it’s just not true,” he said.
Halle played the character Leticia Musgrove opposite Billy’s character Hank Grotowski in the film, which is a romantic drama film directed by Marc Forster.

Halle won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2002 for her role as Leticia.
Halle made history by being the first African-American woman to win Best Actress at the Academy Awards.
Halle added that people can’t accept that she has acting skills and just assume that those particular scenes “had to be real,” she explained on the podcast.
Explaining on the podcast: ‘It’s secretly driven me crazy all these years. “You can’t just be a good actor and you can’t just make that shit look real.”
At the time, Billy was married to Angelina Jolie while filming Monster’s Ball.
Halle, who called herself a ‘girl’, said that she knows Angie and would not approve of her and Billy having actual sex, and Halle herself respected their relationship.
“He had a wife, so… all due respect,” joking that Angie would have had to approve if they ever did it.
“I know Angie and she’s not going to approve of that s**t,” he said on the podcast.
Billy and Angelina were married from 2000 to 2003.
