When Los Angeles police began shutting down celebrations following the Dodgers’ World Series victory, a man covered in body paint was able to evade police capture.
A man covered from head to toe in blue paint, who appeared to be wearing nothing but underwear, was seen scribbling a victory message on a Los Angeles sidewalk as police approached him.
The message was innocuous (‘LA Champs’), but police sought order as the city went wild with celebration after defeating the New York Yankees for their eighth world championship.
A man in the crowd was knocked to the ground by police, who grabbed him by his backpack and dragged him along the sidewalk, according to footage captured by Los Angeles videographer Sean Beckner-Carmitchel.
Images captured by photographer Ethan Swope showed the painted man running from a police officer, but it is unclear if he was captured.

The man was photographed fleeing police in the streets after the victory.
A dozen people were arrested by police across the city as Los Angeles became a scene of riotous revelry.
The Dodgers had won a World Series in 2020, but the Covid pandemic essentially prevented a proper celebration from taking place. Now, for the first time since 1988, the city can truly enjoy a victory parade.
But order was lost at that time: shop windows were smashed, looters carried off goods, and city buses were painted and burned.
Fireworks were seen exploding above the heads of the crowd, and one Dodger fan blew off some fingers after standing too close.
Other displays of “celebration” included the burning of pyres in the city streets.
“Following the Dodgers’ World Series victory, there were several incidents of unruly and at times violent and hostile celebrations,” Los Angeles police told the New York Post.
The city of Los Angeles is hoping for more orderly celebrations when the victory parade takes place on Friday.
