The hairy bikers: You’ll Never Travel Alone saw Si King, 58, explore the life of his best friend, who tragically passed away after a battle with cancer aged 66 in February.

Viewers were “in pieces” as they learned more about Dave, including how he learned to cook at the age of just eight while caring for his sick mother.

The episode also followed Dave Day, in which Si and Dave’s widow Liliana led thousands of cyclists in an epic fundraiser as they rode from London to Barrow-in-Furness in honor of the late TV star.

‘The Hairy Bikers tribute to Dave was excellent’: ‘My other half can’t believe this Hairy Bikers special JUST started and I already have tears in my eyes’: ‘Damn, this Hairy Bikers show didn’t get to me not even half. lip moving’.

Si spoke about his grief and his plans for the future during a special screening of the show earlier this month.

Reflecting on Dave’s death, he said: “The pain comes and comes and goes and goes.”

‘It’s important to honor the legacy of the Bikers, and it’s important that I do the things that I still want to do because Dave was very clear and adamant (that’s what I did). How I would like it for him if the shoe was on the other foot.’

Si confirmed that the Hairy Bikers series would be retired and that future projects will be “very different” without his longtime collaborator.

‘It would be different. It was Dave and me. He is no longer with us. I would like it to be different. That’s very important.’

Si, who broke down in tears in the final episode, spoke movingly about the courage Myers showed during their last series together.

‘I was driving on the A1 north and he called me. He said, “King, it is I. I have something to tell you. Do you want to stop? Then I stopped and he told me I had cancer.

‘I could only admire the man’s courage as we rode side by side once more. The last series we did together, not just Dave and I, but our entire team that we had worked with for 10, 15, 20 years in some cases, was a testament to their determination.

“I was absolutely convinced that I wanted to get back on the road, get back on the bike and feel like I wasn’t just a cancer patient anymore.” “He wanted to feel like one of the Hairy Bikers again and I think that kept him going.”

Si said he feels a responsibility to preserve Dave’s memory and their shared legacy.

‘It is my duty to take care of his memory, take care of the legacy he built, take care of the legacy of the Hairy Bikers. Dave was a happy man. He embraced and loved the life he led, and that was enormously important to him. That was the essence of my best friend.

He went on to describe Dave as a “perfect example” of brotherhood and community.

‘The program was an exclamation point. It was brotherhood, community, and an opportunity for people to openly mourn the loss of a decent, simple man.

Reflecting on their connection, Si said: ‘There was a bond of brotherhood and kindness because we had both grown up in different ways.

‘As working class guys you just hustle and just hope. I think it was the essence of hope that brought us together. “We recognized it in each other.”

He also shared a humorous memory of Dave’s initial meeting with his wife, Lil.

“It was definitely love at first sight for Dave. I’m not sure it was because of Lil. He was probably thinking, “Who the hell are these two?” But I could see it in his eyes. He said, “I really like it a lot.” I said, “Oh, no joke. You? Shall we have a drink and talk about it?
