Hairy Bikers viewers were left in tears on Tuesday after watching the ’emotional’ final episode starring Dave Myers after he died aged 66.
Dave announced that he was receiving treatment for cancer in May 2022 and bravely kept the public updated with his progress in a series of emotional television specials.
At the end of last month, the chef passed away with his family and friends by his side, revealed colleague and lifelong friend Si King.
In The Hairy Bikers Go West, viewers saw Dave and co-star Si ride down the west coast to Bristol on a nostalgic and emotional journey.
Fans praised the ‘bittersweet’ programme, which ended with the late TV star speaking about his hopes for the future and a statement which read: ‘In loving memory of our friend Dave Myers. 1957 – 2024.’

Dave said: ‘We get into Bristol and then the world just opens up, you know, there’s memories here, a lot of memories for both of us.
‘But what is great is the optimism of looking ahead, and certainly on the food front. It is exciting, very exciting and very optimistic. We have the best of the past and the best of the future.’
Sharing their thoughts on X, one person wrote: ‘Watched the last episode of The Hairy Bikers Go West last night. The ending was very emotional for Si, even though he had no knowledge of what was around the corner. Dave, we thank you for your knowledge and good cooking. REST IN PEACE’

It comes after Dave expressed his delight at riding his motorbike in a final series following his cancer diagnosis, which was sent just 24 hours before he died.

‘When I was told I was ill, I never thought I would ride a motorcycle again.’
The footage then cuts to a shot of the friends on a rowboat as Myers tells King that being here with you is like a bloody searchlight. It has been fantastic’.
The episode then shows the pair hugging as King replies “it has, love you”.
They discuss their ‘good childhood memories’ of the region, with Myers recalling: ‘I once came to Liverpool to stay in a bed and breakfast for a week’s holiday when I was a kid.’
In the episode, Myers says: ‘It was funny because they took me on the ferry across the Mersey and when I came back, you know when you do your school diary I was always pretentious so mum and dad took me on a cruise.
‘I said we were going to New Brighton and they burst out laughing, I was really humbled. Because I thought the New Brighton ferry was a cruise.’
To which King replied ‘That is if you want to come to New Brighton.’
The end of the episode shows a teaser for the next one where the pair explore North West Wales.
In the penultimate episode, Myers jokingly admits: ‘It’s good to be alive’.
The episode shows King saying: ‘Great to be back here with my best mate. We didn’t think 18 months ago we’d be getting back on our bikes and wandering around Dave’s back garden and it’s wonderful that we are.’
As Myers replies: ‘It’s been lovely and the bike has been lovely. What can I say…It just feels so good to be alive.’
Following his diagnosis, Myers took a short break from work before filming his final show with King, traveling west across the UK from Scotland to Devon.

King previously said the series, The Hairy Bikers Go West, which airs on BBC Two, would be one they would ‘always remember’.
A post on The Hairy Bikers’ Facebook page in June 2023 announced the new series.
It read: ‘BIG day for us! After two years the gang is back together and guess what?
‘We are starting a new adventure! Shooting in Scotland! Love from Dave and Si.’
The show airs weekly and continues until March 19.
