Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky kicked off Pride Month with a big announcement.
The 35-year-old actress, who came out four years ago during Pride month, is now a married woman.
Blonsky said out magazine He married his wife, Hailey Jo Jenson, six months ago.
The couple eloped on October 21, 2023, less than a month after announcing their engagement.
In the interview, Jenson revealed that TikTok played the role of matchmaker in their romance.
Nikki Blonsky, 35, kicked off Pride Month on Saturday by announcing that she had married her fiancée Hailey Jo Jenson.
Jenson, who goes by they/them, explained that they had been in love with Blonsky ever since they saw the actress and singer in her breakout performance in the 2007 musical Hairspray.
‘One day I saw he was live on TikTok and he was adding random people to his TikTok LIVE. And she picked me at random and I talked to her. And after the call, TikTok LIVE, I went into her DM and asked for a Cameo so she could see my name. And it all started from there.’
Cameo is an online site where fans can request personal messages from their favorite celebrities.
Blonsky said she was instantly attracted to the jewelry designer.
‘I remember the first time we were doing TikTok LIVE and it showed up on Hailey’s face. And there was something about them, about her presence and just about her smile. It was electric,” she explained.
And I thought, “Who is this person?” “I remember my heart literally stopped beating and breathing.”
The couple eloped on October 21, 2023, less than a month after announcing their engagement, they told Out magazine.
Jenson said they had been in love with Blonsky since seeing her in 2007’s Hairspray. They met virtually when Blonsky was doing a TikTok Live and started talking after Jenson slid into the actress’ DMs.
Before meeting Jenson, Blonsky said she was not interested in getting married. She was very happy with my career (and thought), “If love is going to come my way, whatever it is, it will be.” ‘Thank God it was meant to be,’ she said.
The Bosco actress said the deal was more or less done when they finally met in person.
“I remember when Hailey came to see me in California, and they got to the top of my stairs, they were carrying their luggage, and they turned around and I saw her face right in front of me for the first time, and she said, ‘This is the person I’m sure I am going to marry”.
“I’ve never wanted to get married before,” the Critics Choice Award winner said. “That was nothing to me. I was very happy with my career (and said), “If love is going to come my way, whatever it is, it will be.”
“Thank God that’s how it was meant to be,” he said.
