Last month, Bieber said her middle name is derived from stories about Greek gods and goddesses.
The beauty entrepreneur, who married Justin Bieber, 29, in 2018, was born Hailey Rhode Baldwin to her parents, actor Stephen Baldwin, 57, and his wife Kennya Deodato.
She told GQ Hype that she grew up with a fascination with myths and legends and discovered that her middle name – which she uses as the brand name for her best-selling skincare products launched in 2022 – is descended from the ancient deity Rhode, who was said to the protectress and personification of the Dodecanese island of Rhodes.
She was the sea nymph daughter of Poseidon, god of the ocean, and a wife of Helios, god of the sun, and according to some myths the island of Rhodes in Greece was born from their union.
Hailey said of the name, “If you go back, back, back and look, it comes from there.”

When Hailey was 18, she talked about how she was getting into Greek mythology, and in 2015 she recommended the “Iliad” and “Odyssey,” as good travel stories go, and told W at the time about their Greek poet: “Homer is fascinating.”
Hailey said of her obsession, “It was my favorite thing I learned in school. I was so obsessed with the ideas and the stories of these gods and goddesses.”
Hailey grew up north of Manhattan in New York and was homeschooled from eighth grade, but she said she couldn’t wait to embark on her own odyssey.
She left her parents’ house at the age of 17, telling GQ: ‘I couldn’t wait to grow up. I was young, my eyes wide open, super independent, I couldn’t wait to move, I couldn’t wait to make my own money.’
Hailey also told the magazine that her home can be “anywhere,” as long as she’s with her husband Justin and their dogs.
She said: ‘Home feels like I could be anywhere. As long as I’m with my dogs and my husband, I’m fine. I can make that anywhere my home.’
