Erling Haaland shines in his first season at Manchester City. But just before the important quarter-final duel in the Champions League against FC Bayern, transfer speculation about the former BVB attacker is coming up again.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Haaland is still on Real Madrid’s radar. The rumors about the center forward are not new. Again and again there are oracles about a possible step to the reigning Champions League winner. But Haaland still has a long-term contract until 2027.
However, Manchester City are facing an independent commission over possible breaches of Premier League financial rules. For this reason, too, Real Madrid should not have lost sight of the goalscorer, at least that’s what “Mundo Deportivo” claims.
Haaland was already linked with Los Blancos before his move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City last summer. Ultimately, however, the Norwegian was drawn to the island.
Erling Haaland meets FC Bayern with Manchester City
In the current season, Haaland has already scored 44 competitive goals for the Skyblues.
“I think football is a better place, especially thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi,” ManCity coach Pep Guardiola made a special comparison after the recent 4-1 win at Southampton FC: “The numbers he [Haaland] at his age are unbelievable,” said Guardiola about Haaland.
“He’s only 22 years old, plays in the toughest league in the world and does exceptional things,” the head coach continued to praise his protégé.
In the Champions League, Manchester City will face FC Bayern in the quarter-finals. The reigning English champions are also dependent on a strong performance from Haaland in the first leg (Tuesday, 9 p.m.) against Munich. Real Madrid should take a closer look.
