However, Guy recently warned aspiring TV talent contestants that winning a show does not always guarantee professional success.

Talking with news.com.au Last week, the ARIA Award-winning singer shared: ‘After winning Idol, I never had the mindset of, ‘Okay, I’m ready!”

“I wanted to be a sponge, learn as much as I could and just go with the flow. What often surprises me is that there’s still this mentality: ‘I’m going to get on the show and then my life will be sorted.'”

Sebastian also detailed the huge changes the music industry has undergone that have made it even more competitive since he won Australian Idol 21 years ago.

“The world has changed a lot. You have to work harder than ever,” he warned potential contestants.

‘It’s no longer the landscape where you’re young and you sign a record, and then there’s a whole department that’s just focused on creating an aura, an album or a sound for you.’
