An 11-year-old boy who was hit and killed by a bus while cycling home from school has been remembered as a talented golfer and a “beautiful soul”.
Gurmantar Gill, 11, was just 50 metres from his home when he was hit by a vehicle on Jingellic Drive in Buderim, on the Sunshine Coast, at 3.45pm on Tuesday.
Gurmantar was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital before dying a short time later.
The boy’s father, Daljinder Gill, said if his son had made one more left turn on his return journey from Matthew Flinders Anglican College, he would have made it home.
“Yesterday he said he wanted to ride his bike to school,” Gill said of the sixth-grader.
‘We usually pick him up, but yesterday he wanted to ride. I still can’t believe we don’t have him.’
Gurmantar, who lived with his two parents and older sister, dreamed of turning his golfing talent into a career.
He was part of the Maroochy River Golf Club, where he was trained by John Wright.
Gurmantar Gill, 11, who was killed when he was hit by a bus on Tuesday, was a professional golfer who had hoped to make a career out of the sport.

Mr Gill said Gurmantar played in a competition last Sunday.
“He always took me golfing. Now I’m just going to have those memories,” Gill said.
The bus driver involved in the incident, a man in his 60s, was not physically injured and is assisting police with their investigations.
Another person was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital on Tuesday in a stable condition.
The man is known to have been a passenger on the bus.
Witnesses or anyone with relevant vision or information are urged to contact police.
A spokeswoman for CDC, the company that operates the bus, said staff were devastated by the incident.

Gurmantar’s father, Daljinder Gill (pictured right), said his son always took him golfing.
“We are deeply saddened to learn that the young man involved in the incident has subsequently passed away,” he said.
‘We offer our condolences to the young cyclist’s family and thank the first responders for their efforts at this difficult time.’
The spokesman said the CDC was cooperating fully with authorities investigating the incident.
