Cindy and Edward Romero moved out of the apartment on Wednesday due to safety concerns.

“It’s been a nightmare and I can’t wait to get out of here,” Cindy Romero told Fox as she packed her belongings.

In their apartment, the Romeros had an elaborate system of locks that ran from the top of the door to the bottom.

“Every day when we get home, we have to do this every time we go out to take out the trash,” said Cindy Romero, demonstrating how the locks worked.

“Every time we go to sleep at night, we have to stay like this so that no one can break down the door,” he added.
