The deformed gunman who gunned down two former university hockey players before committing suicide with a gruesome gun was a deadbeat dad with a history of domestic violence and debt, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.
Luis Nápoles, 40 (pictured for the first time), killed Meghan Moore, 25, outside her condo building in Miami, Florida, before entering to attack his roommate, Sidney Capolino, of 23 years old, March 16.
Police heard explosions when they arrived to investigate Meghan’s shooting, but when they burst into the two-bedroom apartment, Capolino was dead and Napoles had turned the gun on himself.
The Miami-Dade Police Department described Meghan as the killer’s “girlfriend” and suggested she lived with the two women, who played together on the New England College hockey team before graduating and moving to Florida.
But Meghan’s grieving friends insist this is ‘1,000 per cent’ false and that Napoles was a former colleague who was stalking and harassing their murdered friend.
Luis Nápoles, 40, appears for the first time on DailyMail.com since he shot and killed his girlfriend Meghan Moore, 25, and her roommate in their Miami apartment on March 16.
Miami-Dade police say Napoles shot Moore (left) outside his home before entering and shooting his roommate Sidney Capolino (right) to death.
Meghan (left) and Sidney (right) were roommates and former star players on the New England College women’s ice hockey team.
DailyMail.com can reveal the heavily tattooed father-of-two had a worrying history of debt, substance abuse and domestic violence.
His legal troubles date back to 2003, when he was arrested for an unspecified alcohol-related crime. Three years later he was charged with driving under the influence.
Napoles’ ex-wife, Danielle Dew Bilbao, 44, requested a restraining order in 2008, according to Miami Dade court records.
The matter was dropped, but she alluded to his terrifying behavior after filing for divorce in 2013 and demanding child support.
“Petitioner/ex-wife maintains that it was respondent/ex-husband’s substance abuse, coupled with incidents of domestic violence, that resulted in the breakdown of the marriage,” Danielle wrote in a court filing.
She was still pursuing Napoles through the courts in June 2022, when he was $45,781 behind on his payments.
When Danielle remarried in 2017 and wrote to the court asking for permission to move to North Carolina, she said her relationship with her children, now 14 and 19, was “essentially nonexistent.”
He did not return her voicemails or bother to get out of bed to greet them when she took them to her mother-in-law’s house, where he was staying, her petition says.

Police had described Meghan as the killer’s “girlfriend”, however friends say that was not the case and claim Napoles had been stalking her.
The two friends decided to move together to South Florida to live a new adventure, according to friends and family.
Other court records indicate that Napoles was inundated with debt and was evicted from two different apartments in Miami last year.
In one proceeding he complained that he could not pay the rent of $2,398 per month because he had been laid off from his restaurant job two months earlier.
It’s unclear where Napoles lived before this weekend’s brouhaha, but Meghan’s loved ones insist she was not living with the girls at the posh Windsor Ludlam Trail Apartments.
Her best friend Caroline Spalt said Napoles had pestered Meghan into a relationship after meeting her at a restaurant where they both worked last year.
Any suggestion they were dating was “completely false”, she claimed.
“He was obsessive, he harassed her, he tried to contact her on different phone numbers,” Spalt told NBC10 Boston.
Officers responded to the bloodbath at around 9pm on Saturday night and found Meghan, a criminal justice graduate, collapsed on the ground outside and suffering from a gunshot wound.
As officers attempted to treat his injuries, they heard another explosion coming from inside the condo. The complex was evacuated and a SWAT team entered.
Inside, they discovered Sidney, who had just passed her nursing exam, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Napoles “suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
All three were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not said what led to the murder-suicide.

Meghan was originally from Centerville, Massachusetts, and Sidney was from Pawling, New York, according to their student-athlete biographies.
Both girls were star players on the New England College women’s ice hockey team: Meghan graduated in 2021 and Sidney a year later.
They decided to move together to South Florida to live a new adventure, according to friends and family.
Meghan’s mother, Marybeth Moore, remembered her daughter as a “fun, free spirit” in an interview with NBC10 Boston.
“We couldn’t wait to see her games, she was just electrifying, amazing, always had a big smile, bright eyes, loved everyone,” he said.
“Two families have lost power and our lives will never be the same.”
New England College President Dr. Wayne F. Lesperance, Jr. said in a statement: “Meghan and Sidney were known to many on campus, and we are deeply saddened by this devastating news.”
A hockey coach with ties to the university posted a heartbreaking tribute to the murdered graduates on social media.
