The gunman who killed a 17-year-old in Brooklyn dropped a water bottle as he fled, giving police a possible lead, police said Thursday.
Video shows the shooter in what is believed to be a gang-related confrontation opening fire Thursday afternoon after leaving YaYa Deli at Saratoga Ave. and Prospect Place in Brownsville after purchasing a bottle of water.
The victim, who had also been inside the deli, was shot in the upper body.
“Two shots rang out and he was lying on the ground,” a man who witnessed the shooting and did not want to be named told the Daily News. “When they lifted his shirt, they hit him in front,” the man recalled. He “he was bleeding from the mouth”.
Doctors took him to the Interfaith Medical Center, but were unable to save him.

“He was a good boy,” a family member told The News a short time later. “He was erudite and liked to rap.”
Bassett is not believed to be in a gang, police said, but detectives suspect he may have ties to gangs.
