Fed-up residents in Sydney’s west have sent out a warning to would-be thieves by making a dramatic citizen’s arrest of a suspected burglar.
The man fell twice into a backyard swimming pool as he tried to flee a group of neighbours in Guildford, west of Sydney, at around 9pm on Wednesday.
The images show some neighbours confronting a man who was walking down the street and who they suspected was trying to rob a house.
“Hey, bro. What the hell apartment are you going into?” a neighbor can be heard saying in the security camera footage.
Two neighbors confront the man while other residents come out to take a look as the alleged thief tries to flee.
Footage from another CCTV camera shows him running through a backyard, but his escape attempts are thwarted after he falls into a swimming pool.
He manages to get out but only takes a few steps before falling again.
The alleged burglar was detained by neighbours before police and paramedics arrived at the home.
A Guildford resident (pictured) said the man had been “stealing in the wrong area”.

The arrested man was taken to hospital.
“That’s what happens when you rob Guildford,” one man is heard saying triumphantly as the suspected offender is loaded into an ambulance.
“He got a big hit last night too,” a smiling neighbour told 9News.
“If you’re going to steal something, you stole from the wrong place,” the neighbor said.
The man faces a number of charges for alleged offences dating back to May, and was refused bail in Parramatta Court on Thursday.
