A Philadelphia cheesesteak restaurant has hired guards armed with assault rifles as zombified homeless drug addicts continue to plague the city.
The original Jim’s Steaks has reopened under the new name Jim’s Westand added stricter security measures.
This comes as the city is overwhelmed by drug-fueled crime under the leadership of Democratic District Attorney Larry Krasner, a self-described “progressive prosecutor.”
His failure to suppress led to his indictment in 2022 for “dereliction of duty”, but he remained in office after his trial was postponed indefinitely.
Cortez Johnson, co-owner of Jim’s West, said WPVI: ‘Violence has increased. It goes up and down.
“You want people to feel safe and be safe. So when they go out and eat, they don’t have to worry about any danger.
Other former military personnel, police officers and others with law enforcement backgrounds have moved on to certified security work for the state of Pennsylvania.

Kensington, a neighborhood just over five miles from Jim’s West, is known as “ground zero” of the city’s drug epidemic and has become an open-air drug market.
Many of these addicts have been forced to turn to crime to survive and maintain their habits.

Every week, Thursday through Sunday, guards are assigned to stand outside the restaurant, WPVI reported.
Some customers saw the need for new, heightened security measures, like resident Mario Maiale who said, “If it deters him, I can’t complain.” I’m not a big fan of guns, but I understand.
Others don’t really like it when their favorite restaurant is displayed with armed guards.
“Now in North Philly, where this gas station is, where the guy is over there with a machine gun, I can understand that. Here it’s a little over the top. Even if you have an armed guard, d’ agreement. But walking around with a machine gun is not family-friendly,” said West Philadelphia customer William King.
Other local businesses, including the Karco gas station in North Philadelphia, have also hired advanced security services to combat crime.

Philadelphia is awash in drug-fueled crime under Democratic District Attorney Larry Krasner, a self-described “progressive prosecutor.”
Kevin Darden, owner of Presidential Protective Services, can be seen in all black with a bulletproof vest on guard outside Jim’s West.
“It’s not just me. These are typically other officers sworn and certified by the State of Pennsylvania to perform security duties while off duty. We are all former military, police and law enforcement,” Darden said.
Other Philadelphia businesses have installed traps like hidden sprinkler systems to keep drug addicts and violent citizens away.
Philadelphia’s cheesesteak restaurants have long been a place where the community came together over good, greasy food, but now that must happen under tactical supervision.

Customer William King called the presence of armed guards “excessive” and “unfriendly to families.”
“I’m here to protect you,” Darden said. “I’m not here to cause trouble or be that guy with a gun.”
Jim’s West CFO Saul Landers told WPVI, “Our lines are down the block, so while you’re waiting in line here, connecting with other people you might not know no, we have security here just to keep you safe. ‘
Landers also admitted that if the need to secure and protect your business and its customers meant spending extra money for more security, then that’s exactly what he would do.
