GTA 6 is a long-awaited game, even if there is still little news. Dedicated fans we are, however, we have been browsing the internet to bring together the best bits of gossip, rumor and fact for your personal enjoyment.
Shoot-outs, punch-ups, carjacking, drug-running and the notorious freedom to drive countless sex workers across the vast metropolis of every game: although unpleasant for many, there is no denying the immense cultural impact that GTA's gigantic open-world games have had the gambling landscape.
So while Rockstar Games might be working hard to introduce Red Dead Redemption 2 to fans by the October release date, we can not stop thinking about GTA 6 and when we can hear some kind of confirmation or firm release window.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most successful game releases in the world and although we still enjoy GTA Online, it is now about five years since we were last released in a new Rockstar city and we are starting to be curious to where we can go now.
All we know at the moment is that we will not see GTA 6 in 2019. After a hoax release date in some fake pop-up ads across the internet, Rockstar announced that we would not see the game during the next year. And there was our hope for it.
Watch our video below about GTA VI: predictions about characters, locations, story and GTA Online.
Cut to the chase
- What is it? The long-awaited next item in the Grand Theft Auto series
- When it is out? That is the biggest mystery of the internet (but it will not be 2019)
- Is it started on a PC? Both GTA 4 and 5 eventually went to the PC, so we have already crossed our appendages
GTA 6 release date: when can I play it?
With Red Dead Redemption in October 2018 you wait a while for a release date for GTA 6.
According to some reports, we could wait until 2020 for the next Grand Theft Auto, which would be logical. Rockstar has supported GTA Online, the multiplayer component of GTA 5, since the game was launched in September 2013 with regular content updates.
If the online component of Red Dead Redemption 2 is somehow comparable to GTA Online, Rockstar will undoubtedly be working on it for a few more years.
After three years of GTA Online the company was ready to do Red Dead Redemption 2, so maybe three years later we will see GTA 6 – bang bang in 2020. But according to renowned analyst Michael Pachter, the game could be as far away as 2022.
In an interview with Gaming BoltPachter said he would find a 2020 announcement with a 2021 issue the best scenario, while an announcement from 2021 with a release from 2022 or later would be more likely.
In short, to expect every news of GTA 6 is quickly optimistic, or a hoax that has recently happened. We think it would be logical if the game would follow the release pattern of its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 5, where it would be released at the end of the current generation, would be comfortably released on the new generation and straddle both for the widest installation basis possible.
Trailer GTA 6: when can I view one?
The thing about Rockstar Games is that it is incredibly mysterious. There will not be a trailer out of that game studio, unless someone seriously messes up.
Just look at what Rockstar did with both GTA 5 and Red Read Redemption 2. It teased an announcement a few days before the first trailer for both games was left.
If there is a GTA 6 trailer, you know that because the internet explodes.
GTA 6 news and rumors: what do we know so far?
The Know-report about Vice City
The most recent major Grand Theft Auto 6 rumor comes from the YouTube channel The Know. It states that an inside source has told us that GTA 6 will arrive in 2021-2022 and will be developed under the codename Project Americas.
The reason for this code name is apparently because players in the game can fly between the US and South America, although the majority of the action takes place in the first. This in combination with the claim of the source that the game will be placed largely in Vice City (the Rockstar version of Miami) suggests that there could be a focus on the use of drugs that would be based on the popularity of shows and films such as Narcos and Tom Cruise & # 39; s Made in America. Especially if Rockstar sticks to that 80's setting.
Without Rockstar's comments, these rumors are nothing more than, well, rumors. But they do form an interesting proposition that would capture the special affection that many fans of the series have for Vice City.
GTA 6 is certain and there are ideas
What we do know about GTA 6 is that ideas are ejected for development, even if it is just in its initial stages. Rockstar President Leslie Benzies teased the game in an interview in 2013 with Develop magazine.
"We do not know what GTA 6 will be, but we have some ideas," said Benzies in the interview.
Okay, so it's not much, but it's certainly a piece of solid information directly from the source.
Benzies continued to talk about what kind of ideas the creative juices flow at Rockstar.
"We have about 45 years of ideas that we want to do," he added. "We will choose the right one."
"It comes first from the idea, where it is going to be the first question, which then defines the missions: you do different things in LA than in New York or Miami.
"The map and the story are worked together and the story is a basic stream of how it works, so you can organize the mission."
We are just happy that Rockstar has so many ideas for what it wants to do with GTA 6. We just hope that it brings them into a kind of organized system and that game gets sharp for us.
GTA 6 card: where is GTA 6 set?
Although there are no concrete reports yet, every online delicacy and juicy gossip indicates that the GTA 6 card is absolutely huge.
We are not even talking about massive city measurements, we are talking about the entire mass of the United States.
Some rumors suggest that GTA 6 may span the entire US, with a sort of teleportation system that shortens travel time between cities.
There are even some incredibly exciting rumors that Rockstar Games might have a "themed" theme, so let those old whistleblowers and disco balls burst.
But there is also a rumor that the force is gathering, which would bring GTA 6 a little closer to the British home of Rockstar Games – a location in London.
The reports actually started with a commentary from the co-founder of Rockstar Games, Dan Houser:
"At the moment it feels like the DNA of GTA is contemporary, like, American-like, English-speaking, because that's what it was … But that does not necessarily have to limit that, that's exactly what we've done so far. "
Rockstar Games sources suggest that London is the only non-US location to be whispered as a possible GTA setting.
For our money, we think that a return to Vice City is coming, which would tie in with the aforementioned rumors. A recent report from The Know suggests that a return to Vice City in the 80s is actually under way and that players will investigate the increase in drugs at the time of the missions. In this rumor game players will move between Vice City and South America, which would create a very interesting and completely new kind of card.
The GTA 3 trilogy took place at three locations: Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas. This reflected the original Grand Theft Auto game, which was also set in the same three locations.
The most recent Grand Theft Auto games, GTA 4 and GTA 5, have been played so far in respectively Liberty City and San Andreas, meaning Vice City is the only location to be explored by recent games.
The only question now is whether Rockstar is tempted to complete the set.
GTA 6 rumors
1. A female protagonist
When in an interview with The Guardian in 2013 he was asked about a female protagonist for GTA 5, instead of three male heroes (or anti-heroes), Rockstar, co-founder and chief writer Dan Houser, said that a female lead was not really going on . the table, but not deliberately.
"We have not really thought about this this time," Houser said. "That does not mean we could not or would not do this." This character set is exactly what happened to us: it was not: & # 39; we have X and Y, so we need Z & # 39; We tried not from a checklist – I do not think you'll ever get something that's credible or fascinating. "
"Can we play a game with a female lead in the future? Of course, we have not found the right game yet, but it is one of the things we always think of."
"It did not feel natural for this game, but certainly for the right game in the future – with the right themes it could be great, but for GTA 5 this was the organic thing that came up, these were the characters that the themes would show what we wanted to think about. "
probability: Strong. Fans have long argued for a female hero in a Grand Theft Auto game, and it would be a great change for all the murdered prostitutes.
2. Eva Mendez and Ryan Gosling
Rumors about a female protagonist are super exciting, but there is more.
Evidently, Eva Mendez is at the top of Rockstar's list for playing the hero.
But again, there is more. There is also a male leading role on the list and it is none other than the heart attack of Ryan Gosling, who happens to be her real husband.
probability: Doubtful. GTA is a large gaming franchise that is incredibly well-known, especially outside the gaming industry, so it's possible that some big names are involved, but we're not convinced.
3. Full support for virtual reality
Another GTA 6 rumor is about virtual reality and according to the online rumble you can possibly play the whole of GTA 6 in VR.
There are no specific headsets mentioned, but because this is probably only a rumor, we do not worry about that.
probability: Doubtful. GTA 6 may have a VR experience linked to it, but playing the whole game in virtual reality would be insane.
Unless we have seen huge leaps in virtual reality in the years between now and the release date of GTA 6, playing a whole GTA game in VR would prove to be the most stomach test.
Fast, active and played in long sessions, a VR GTA (in its current form at least) would not work.
4. Time travel or another futuristic turn
With the murmuring of a seriously large card for GTA 6, there are also some rumors about time travel as an important part of the game.
This is not Saints Row that we are talking about, but there is apparently a futuristic twist on GTA 6.
According to a report from ChristianToday – really – the game will give players "the taste of time travel" where "teleportation [is] possible within a fraction of a second ".
probability: Absolutely ridiculous. There are hilarious side missions in GTA games, but time travel as a main gameplay mechanic just does not fit into Rockstar's DNA.
Moreover, ChristianToday has no screenshots, sources or any kind of evidence, so we are certainly skeptical.
5. Play as an agent or a criminal
Another potential for the storyline of GTA 6 is that you have the decision to play as an agent or as a criminal. Or at least, if GTA 6 takes over the multiple protagonist function of GTA 5, one of the characters you play could be a policeman.
probability: Strong. We could see this fully working, especially with the possible chaos that could arise if you play a Trevor-like character half an hour and an agent the other.
