There are growing fears that a missing girl may have been taken across state lines after she went missing with a woman she knew.

Eight-year-old Molly Nonnan-Medley was last seen north of Wollongong at Woonona, south of Sydney, about 11am on Thursday.

Police were alerted on Friday after attempts to contact the woman failed.

An investigation has been launched to find the eight-year-old boy, who has been described as 120cm tall, with a slim build, blue eyes and blonde/brown hair.

The woman is known to frequent the Woonona, Wollongong and Huskisson areas, however police believe she may be taking the child interstate.

“Investigations have established that the couple may be heading somewhere in Queensland,” a New South Wales Police spokesperson said.

“It is believed that they may depend on public transport to travel.”

Anyone with information has been urged to contact authorities.
