- She had just won a race to unwrap candy, which prompted the hateful man to beat her

A spiteful groom who hit his wife on the head on their wedding day after hitting him during a parlor game has been charged with the assault.
The unnamed man defeated his fiancée after she won a candy unwrapping race hosted by guests at their wedding in the southern region of Surkhandaryo on June 6, with images going viral online.
Video caught the attention of Saida Mirziyoyeva, daughter of the country’s president, who condemned the attack — prompting police to track down the couple.
Officers say the man has now been charged with ‘vandalism’ but could face only 15 days in prison and a fine if found guilty.
Here’s the chilling moment a groom punched his new wife at their wedding after going crazy when his bride won a competition onstage over a toast in Uzbekistan
A committee in the upper house of the Uzbek legislature said the young man had “apologised to the bride and expressed regret for his actions” during a neighborhood hearing attended by community elders and relatives of the couple.
“On the same day, the bride and groom reconciled and are now living together,” the committee said.
Ms Mirziyoyeva spoke out against the violence and said: ‘We must not remain silent about such cases, we must not pretend it is a one-off.
‘That’s why we need education that opens horizons and makes women independent and strong.’
After being hit, footage captured a clearly distraught bride putting her head in her hands before being led off the stage by another woman.
The groom stood onstage watching the silent guest as if nothing had happened, while his best man stood next to him fidgeting with his phone.
Uzbekistan has a history of arranged marriages, although these are less common today. It is not clear whether this was an arranged marriage.

The wedding images have gone viral on social media in Central Asia, with people reacting angrily on Twitter.
“This is so sad,” one person wrote on the social media platform. “I hope she finds the courage to charge him and hold him accountable for his actions.”
“What horror!” another wrote. “It’s good that this was on the internet to put this horrible man to shame. But I hope she can be taken from him. How can her parents see this? What is he a mafia goon? How awful.’
A third wrote: ‘It’s horrifying how normalized this is. I hope she gets away from him sooner rather than later,” posting three heartbroken emojis.
Oddly enough, it’s not the first time a video has surfaced showing a groom lashing out at his new wife in the country.
In 2019, a clip of a similar incident in Uzbekistan caught the public eye, with a groom lashing out at his bride after teasing him by pretending to take his wedding cake.

In the previous incident, the groom hit the unnamed woman with such force that she stumbled backwards onto a chair behind her.
A man standing behind the groom grabs him as one of the shocked guests comforts the bride as she gets back up.
At the time, social media users criticized the unnamed man’s behavior online with one of the words: “That man needs to be taught a lesson in human rights and the woman should get an annulment ASAP!”
