A shirt belonging to a 12-year-old girl has been found and is feared to have been stolen by a crocodile.
The young woman was last seen swimming in Mango Creek in the remote community of Nganmarriyanga in the Northern Territory, 360 kilometres southwest of Darwin, and was reported missing at 5.30pm on Tuesday.
Police and members of the Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife continued the search on Thursday.
His shirt was found upriver from where he disappeared.
Police Minister Brent Potter confirmed on Wednesday that the search had moved into the recovery phase.
Mr Potter added that the team was also authorised to “remove the crocodile from the area” in order to safely continue the search.
“They do an incredible job, those officers are also divers and go into crocodile infested waters when necessary,” Potter said. Northern Territory News.

Nganmarriyanga, formerly known as Palumpa, is a remote Aboriginal community in the Daly River region of the Northern Territory.
It is located between the communities of Peppimenarti and Wadeye.
