Price rises: Persistent inflation and a pay rise for workers have pushed up costs at Greggs
Greggs has raised the price of its sausage rolls and cheese sandwiches in a bid to offset its rising wage bill.
Customers will now have to pay more for some of the High Street bakery chain’s products, even after the company raised prices by between 5p and 10p in December and promised not to make further increases earlier this year.
But persistent inflation in the UK and a pay rise for workers in January have pushed up costs at Greggs.
The price of its sausage rolls and vegan alternative is 5p higher, along with increases for cheese sandwiches.
Greggs’ half-year results show revenue rose 13.8 per cent to £960.6m in the six months to June 29 and profits rose 16 per cent to £74.1m.
