  • He was found not guilty of murdering his lover Russell Hill.

Other prisoners are jealous of convicted camper killer Greg Lynn after he landed a cell with a nice view and a coveted jail job, but he’s become a target himself, a new report has revealed.

The former Jetstar pilot was pelted with human faeces at Melbourne’s assessment centre earlier this month, just days after he was found guilty of murdering Carolyn Clay, 73, but not guilty of murdering Russell Hill, 74, who disappeared while camping together in Victoria’s Wonnangatta region in 2020.

Now a prison source has revealed the motive behind the sickening attack and why Lynn does not mix with other prisoners behind bars.

“Lynn does not display the normal traits of an average prisoner,” the prison source said. Herald of the Sun.

‘He is aloof, arrogant and entitled and the other prisoners don’t like him.

“He is not part of any criminal network, that is why he is isolated and was attacked.”

The source said fellow inmates also dislike the power Lynn, 57, has over them, having landed the job of housing chief for their prison unit, a coveted and lucrative position that involves running the food line and ordering other housing units to do the work.

The source said Lynn’s application for the job was initially rejected but later dismissed.

Another reason for envy, according to the source, is that Lynn occupies a privileged position within the prison: a corner cell with a nice view of Spencer St and no adjoining cell to the north.

The cell, one of the quietest in the prison, where Lynn is currently being held while awaiting sentencing for his crime.

Ms Clay and Mr Hill, who were having an affair, were camping in the Wonnangatta Valley in Victoria’s Alpine region when they went missing on March 20, 2020.

Lynn was arrested about 18 months later and led detectives to their graves in the woods.

He pleaded not guilty to both murders, claiming that Mr. Hill stole his gun from his car during an argument and that it accidentally went off, killing Ms. Clay, as the two men struggled to gain control of the gun.

He claimed Mr Hill, devastated by Ms Clay’s death, lunged at him with a knife and the older man was accidentally killed during the skirmish.

Lynn is due back in Supreme Court on Friday for a pre-sentencing hearing.
