Greg James did not appear on his Breakfast Show on Radio 1 on Wednesday morning, after a wild night of partying at the BRIT Awards 2020.
The presenter was a no-show when his show entered the broadcast at 6:30 am and his colleague Adele Roberts took over after presenting her own early show from 4:00 am.
Adele told listeners that Greg was “a dirty little no-show” when the team desperately tried to track down their star and his wife, the writer Bella Mackie, later tweeted that her husband had never come home.
MIA: Greg James did not appear on his Breakfast Show on Radio 1 on Wednesday morning, after a wild night of partying at the BRIT Awards 2020 (shown on the Chiltern Firehouse for the Warner Music and the afterparty of CÎROC)
“Good morning everyone, it’s Radio 1 Breakfast with Adele Roberts,” Adele started the show. “I can’t believe this is happening. Greg James is a no show, a dirty little no show, has anyone seen him? “
“I tried to watch all our little Radio 1 chickens this morning,” she continued to reveal that she had been watching her colleagues on social media while they were partying.
“The last time I saw him was on Grace, who was working on Radio 1 Breakfast on her Instagram about six hours ago, around midnight. If you see him, please send him our way. I saw a flash of him with Yannis van Foals. “
Covering: the presenter was a no-show when his show entered the broadcast at 6:30 am, so his colleague Adele Roberts took over after presenting her own early show from 4:00 am
Oops: Greg’s wife, writer Bella Mackie, tweeted at 10 am that her husband was not coming home
Where is he? Adele told listeners that Greg was “a filthy little no-show” when the team desperately tried to track down their star displayed on the red carpet on Tuesday night at O2 in London
Later it turned out that Greg was not on his way in, Adele joked that she would complete the entire Radio 1 program after fellow presenters Matt Edmondson, Mollie King, Scott Mills and Nick Grimshaw had all spent their Tuesday night partying at the BRITs.
“We can’t find anyone, I’m there for everyone!” she laughed.
Arielle Free from Radio 1 entered the studio in her dressing gown at 7 o’clock in the morning to help with presenter Jordan North on Sunday, where the couple survived a few hours of sleep.
An idea? BRIT winners Foals took care of Greg’s last observation and shared an Instagram of the ceremony in which they told Greg ‘we won that you come with us’
Parties: Greg’s former Radio 1 colleague Grace Hopper shared a photo of the couple who drank while she joked ‘he’ll be on the radio in 6 hours’
Fun times: Sara Cox, who worked with Greg on Radio 1, also shared a photo of the couple partying together
Matt Edmondson was also called in to go to the studio, he appeared in the T-shirt in which he slept after a night of partying and told listeners that he was “borderline furious” to be called up.
“I came back yesterday morning from vacation, didn’t sleep during the flight and then went to the BRIT and now I’m here … I’m ticked off. I got a call from a boss … he said: “Adele is here but she has been busy for hours and we actually need someone to come in”. I said, “Have you tried someone else?”
“I then found our Jordan and Arielle here … but our boss said,” please still come in, we had to send Arielle home because she is drunk and Jordan’s voice is gone! “”
Help: Radio 1’s Arielle Free came to the studio at 7:00 am, together with Sunday presenter Jordan North, and the couple survived a few hours of sleep
Ouch: Jordan was still in his suit because he did his best to help live through updates, share updates on Instagram
Call from the boss: Matt Edmondson was also called to go to the studio, appeared in the t-shirt in which he slept after a night of partying and told listeners that he was “borderline furious”
Adele assured the listeners at 8:30 am that Greg “is very safe and healthy at the moment and sleeps a lot,” while Jordan brutally blurted out “he’s in big trouble too.”
As the show progressed, the presenters began to become suspicious. Greg played a joke and followed the past high jinks of Radio 1, who saw the star play a nationwide hide and seek game of hide and seek.
Eventually Greg didn’t make it for the duration of his show, with Clara Amfo, who was also at the awards, who managed to make it to the start of her show at 10 o’clock.
Love it: listeners were hysterical in the massacre while the presenters did their best to muddle through the breakfast show
