A driver is on the run after crashing into a house in Melbourne’s north.

A father and his five-year-old daughter were fast asleep at their Greenvale home when the car crashed into their garage at 3.45am on Tuesday.

The vehicle caught fire and the flames quickly spread to the house, which was severely damaged before firefighters arrived.

The father and daughter escaped with minor injuries.

Police have just established a crime scene and are reportedly investigating the incident as a possible targeted attack.

It took firefighters, with the help of neighbours, about 40 minutes to extinguish the flames, which were contained in the house.
