Greenland is not for sale, emphasizes Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
Donald Trump Jr. landed on a cold, Arctic island region Tuesday morning for a surprise trip amid his father’s latest threats to buy it from Denmark.
But Frederiksen said on Tuesday that Greenland Prime Minister Múte Egede has “been very, very clear” that they have no intention of becoming part of the US.
“There is a lot of support among the people of Greenland that Greenland is not for sale and will not be for sale in the future,” Frederiksen emphasized.
While several people said Don Jr.’s trip to Greenland was “personal” and not political, the president-elect noted how his son was accompanied by his “representatives.”
Trump also made it clear that his son’s trip is to achieve his goal: the US buying Greenland.
But the chairman of one of Greenland’s largest political parties denied a meeting with Don Jr. and reiterated that Greenland is not up for grabs.
Siumut party leader Erik Jensen told the press: “I can confirm that I have no intention of meeting him. I’ll say it again: Greenland is not for sale and never will be.’
“Everyone is welcome to visit our country, including Trump,” he added. “If the son of the future president, who is also his own advisor, shows interest in our country, it means that Greenland is serious.”
Don Jr. posted several videos and photos of Greenland on Tuesday morning.

But President-elect Donald Trump wrote a post on Truth Social on Tuesday that suggests the trip is political, noting that his “representatives” went to Greenland with his eldest son.
James Blair accompanies him on his visit to Greenland. Blair will serve as deputy chief of staff for legislative, political and public affairs for Trump’s second presidential term. He was the political director of the 2024 campaign and oversaw a ground game to reach low-propensity voters.
Also on the trip are conservative Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and Sergio Gor, with whom Don co-owns Winning Team Publishing.
And Trump made clear on his social media site that the trip is aimed at achieving his intentions to have the US buy Greenland in his second term.
‘Don Jr. and my representatives are landing in Greenland,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Tuesday. ‘The reception was great. They and the Free World need safety, security, strength and PEACE!’
“This is a deal that has to happen,” he stressed. ‘MAGA. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!’
During lunch with community members in Nuuk, Greenland, Don Jr. his father on loudspeaker so he could have a quick chat with the locals.
Sources told DailyMail.com ahead of the trip that Don planned to record video and podcasting content and stressed he would not be meeting with government officials or political figures.
Some reports suggested that the president-elect’s eldest son was visiting at the request of Jensen, who is Greenland’s finance minister and supports Greenland’s independence.
Jensen now denies that he plans to meet Don.
Don Jr. posted photos of himself and Charlie Kirk and Sergio Gor in front of the statue of Hans Egede, the Danish-Norwegian missionary who led missionary efforts in Greenland in the late 18th century. Don Jr. also posted a photo of the runway staff at the airport in Greenland
