Paul Hollywood faced backlash after criticizing comedian David O’Doherty for his ice cream cake during Stand Up To Cancer’s Great British Bake Off on Sunday.
The Channel 4 judge took his job very seriously during the charity show and described David’s 70s banoffee dessert as “inedible” and “disgusting”.
He said: ‘That’s disgusting, what’s at the bottom? It is very difficult. It is not edible.”
David took part alongside Strictly’s Oti Mabuse, sports presenter Gabby Logan and comedian Suzi Ruffell.
And the strict judging didn’t end there, as the celebrities had to bake eight perfectly decorated vegan rings with feathers and icing for the technical challenge.

Paul and fellow judge Prue Leith blind-tasted the biscuits and were quick to label David’s “terrible”.
Prue added: “They’re not baked and the frosting is very messy.”
The comments led viewers to take to social media platform
Fans wrote: ‘Pretty disgusting? Tough Pablo! David simply gives up; he stops bothering David, he’s doing the best he can!; David had a bad first round but he took it seriously like the great comedian that he is. Very entertaining’.
During the technical test, Oti took third place, Suzi took second place, and Gabby took first place for her “good” cookies.
As Paul and Prue caught up with hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, they said it would be a “miracle” if David beat Star Baker over the other celebrities.
Paul said: “It’s among the girls that it would have to be a miracle for David to win Star Baker.”
More viewers added: ‘David not being included in the chances of winning Starbaker is a bit harsh; Paul reserves a special level of desolation for David today.”
The strict judging didn’t end there, as the celebrities had to bake eight perfectly decorated feather and ice cream vegan rings for the technical challenge which Paul called David’s “terrible”.
As Paul and Prue caught up with hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, they said it would be a “miracle” if David beat Star Baker over the other celebrities.
The comments led viewers to turn to X to complain about the judge’s “harsh” comments even though the comedian was not a professional baker and was participating for charity.
The celebrities were later tasked with creating a meringue dessert for their Showstopper and David finally managed to receive a compliment from the judges.
With his basic tray of meringue with a boat of chocolate flakes in the center, Paul originally asked, “What the hell is that?”
But once he tasted the creation, Paul said: “The flavor you managed to get is good, the dates and rum really enhance the meringue.”
Prue added: ‘I like it. I think it’s very good.’
David looked over the moon at the comments and gushed: “Day one is disgusting, day three is a baking genius.”
It wasn’t enough though as Gabby jumped for joy when she was announced as Star Baker.
She said: ‘My family is going to think I went to a print shop on the way home and made this apron. You won’t believe it.
‘It feels surreal. I am happy’.
Gabby took part to raise money for charity after her husband, rugby player Kenny Logan, was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year.
She said: ‘My family was affected by cancer last year, my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer and caught it very early.
“He’s doing really well now, so when they asked me to do this I didn’t think twice.”
