The Kansas grandmother accused of killing her daughter-in-law and another woman is a member of a religious gang and is said to be a “deranged” conspiracy theorist.

Tifany Adams, 54, her boyfriend Tad Cullum, 43, along with Cole and Cora Twombly, 50 and 44, have been charged with murder in the deaths of Veronica Butler, 27, and Jilian Kelley, 39, in March.

The four are members of a gang called ‘God’s Misfits,’ an anti-government religious sect, according to court documents.

Leanne Webb, who met Adams last year, said The New York Post that Adams is “unhinged” and would post disturbing messages on her Facebook page.

‘He has many strange beliefs and thinks the rest of the world is corrupt. “It was all conspiracy theories and things that didn’t make any sense,” Webb said.

Webb, who later unfriended Adams, told The Post that the grandmother republished an article in February that claimed modern society lived in a simulation.

“Sometimes I posted several times a day, but it was all things like that,” he said.

“They were very, very strange things, and they were going to raise [her grandkids] believe the same things.’

Butler and Kelley were traveling together to pick up Butler’s children, ages six and eight, on March 30, when they disappeared about three miles from their destination.

Their bodies were recovered after “pools of blood” were found next to their empty car. Butler was going through a nasty divorce and custody battle and Kelley, a pastor’s wife, was one of his supervisors during his visits with the children.

Adams’ son, Wrangler Rickman, technically had custody of his and Butler’s two children, but was confirmed to be in an Oklahoma rehab facility, leaving the children largely under Adams’ supervision.

Adams and Cullum had conspired to kill Butler earlier in February, according to a witness.

They created that plan to make it look like an accident, “because anvils regularly fall off work vehicles,” according to records.

The couple had even traveled to Butler’s home in Hugoton, Kansas, to carry out the plan, but Butler never left his house, CNN reported.

It seems that Adams had a more detailed plan to eliminate the mother of his grandchildren the second time.

Search records recovered for Adams showed that he had researched the level of pain caused by a Taser, various gun stores and how to purchase prepaid cell phones.

Adams later in February went to a Walmart and purchased three unregistered prepaid phones.

In March, Butler filed a motion to grant more visitation time to her children. Days later, Adams purchased five stun guns at a nearby gun store.

On Easter weekend, Butler was supposed to take the children to a birthday party with family after picking them up in Adams.

Adams claims Butler told her she couldn’t have the children visit her during a phone call the morning of March 30, but records show Butler was already on her way to pick up Kelley.

It should be noted that Kelley is not the usual supervisor of Butler’s visits. A woman named Cheryl Brune used to go with Butler, but Butler believed she was not available that day.

Burne, however, told police she had been available, but Adams called her and told her to take a couple of weeks off.

Adams and Cullum left around 9 a.m. to meet Cora and Cole Twombly, according to Cora’s 16-year-old daughter, who said they were on a “mission.”

The entire group had been provided with disposable phones so they did not use personal devices. Adams had dropped the grandchildren off at the home of another ‘God’s Misfits’ couple who hosted gatherings the night before the murders.

Cullum was working the night before in a pasture he rented to graze cattle and asked the owner if he could do some heavier work on the land.

The landowner told police he was going to use a skid steer and bulldozer to remove a tree and bury concrete.

When the Twombly daughter woke up Saturday morning, the day Kelley and Butler disappeared, her mother and Cole Twombly were gone.

When they got home a couple of hours later, they ordered the girl to clean the inside of their Chevrolet truck. She asked them what had happened and, surprisingly, they admitted to the murders.

They responded that the mission had not gone as planned, but that they no longer had to worry about Veronica Butler, the girl told police in an April 3 interview.

The two adults said they had blocked the road to stop Butler and Kelley and lured them to where the other members were waiting.

They asked Cora Twombly if the bodies had been put in a well. She replied, ‘Something like that.’

The daughter asked why Kelley had to die, and Twombly said her support of Butler made her guilty by association.

Adams picked up her two grandchildren around the same time the Twomblys returned home on March 30, according to police.

Melissa and Joey Padilla, two of Butler’s relatives, went looking for her after she did not arrive with the children at the party.

Around noon they found the abandoned vehicle along with pools of blood and contacted the police, who began their investigation. This prompted a missing person report and a request for the public’s help in obtaining information.

Days later, police obtained search warrants for Adams’ phone, which revealed the records. On April 13, the four suspects were arrested despite the bodies having not yet been found.

The next day, police found the bodies as the lack of traffic cameras expanded the investigation.

Police had traced the burner phones to the property where Cullum had worked that night, about eight and a half miles from where Butler’s car was found. Authorities said the three phones were discovered near Butler’s car around the time she and Kelley disappeared.

Authorities discovered a hole that was dug, filled and covered with hay in the grass. Inside the hole, they found two sets of remains confirmed to be Butler and Kelley.

Butler’s relatives had to be separated from the defendant during his court appearance on April 17, with family members shouting that Adams was a ‘f***ing b****’ while the others were ‘sorry, you pieces.’ shitty’. .
