Grand Tour fans praise 'best special' yet Sand Job and compare it to 'peak Top Gear'

Grand Tour viewers raved about the show’s latest Sand Job special, calling it “absolutely brilliant”.

In the feature-length episode, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May traveled through remote Africa and fought in the Sahara.

The challenge saw the trio follow in the footsteps of the world’s most dangerous race, the iconic Paris-Dakar, however instead of custom-built sports cars, they must travel in second-hand engines.

Viewers compared the show’s penultimate outing to ‘peak Top Gear’ ahead of the final episode of The Grand Tour later this year.

The trio joined the streaming service in 2015 to continue his motoring adventures after his time on Top Gear, but will now end the show after five series.

Richard, 54, said while nothing is set in stone, they could possibly front a show similar to Amanda Holden and Alan Carr’s makeover series The Italian Job.

When asked if he could see car enthusiasts renovating a property abroad, he joked Sun: “It’s really not a bad idea, I could make a note of it and claim it as mine.”

Richard went on to say that they were too busy concentrating on the final series of The Grand Tour, which is expected to air later this year, to think about the future.
