‘Got a bit of Walter White there’: John Fetterman is compared to Breaking Bad character after shaving his signature goatee into a mustache after losing a bet with his 13-year-old son

Date:

John Fetterman has been compared to Walter White after he shaved off his goatee into a mustache after losing a bet with his 13-year-old son.

The Democrat, who hit the headlines with his six-week hospitalization for depression, tweeted the snap of her new look on Saturday morning.

“I lost a bet with Karl,” Fetterman said, referring to his son. His wife, Gisele Baretto Fetterman, later tweeted that the bet was on a game of chess between the two.

Fetterman’s wife seemed to approve of the new look but couldn’t help but joke: ‘I didn’t know he had a chin’ captioning a photo of the two on a ‘date “.

She added a screenshot of a text message from Fetterman showing off the mustache, to which she replied, “I’m into it.”

Democratic Senator John Fetterman debuted a new look on Saturday which he literally sported because he lost a bet with his 13-year-old son – and people are drawing comparisons to Walter White

Others on social media noted that he resembled various celebrities, with one drawing comparisons to Bryan Cranston’s famous role as Walter White in Breaking Bad.

“I have a bit of Walter White there, useful for negotiations,” said an approving reaction.

When one Twitter user suggested “You look like a shop teacher. I’m just saying,” another succinctly replied, more like a chemistry teacher.

Walter de Cranston works as a chemistry teacher before turning his back to selling methamphetamine to try to keep his family whole while dying of cancer.

“You can now play as G. Gordon Liddy for Halloween,” added another commenter, referring to the infamous former FBI agent.

A friendlier commenter joked that Fetterman “beat Dr Oz, flex and turn into Dr Phil”.

Fetterman was dispatched with daytime TV doctor Mehmet Oz in the November 2022 election.

The senator was profiled for a cover story for Time magazine this month and said it was his debate against Republican Senate hopeful Mehmet Oz that led to his depressive episode.

He even revealed that he recorded a goodbye message to his children after suffering a stroke last spring.

The senator still suffers from auditory processing problems 14 months after the stroke.

While the Oz debate was at a breaking point, the January suicide of New York Times reporter Blake Hounshell — whom Fetterman knew personally — hit Fetterman hard and contributed to his decision to seek help.

Just days before the Democratic primary, Fetterman encountered his first major challenge in a year – stroke.

On the campaign trail near Lancaster, Gisele noticed her husband’s face was starting to sag and immediately took him to hospital.

He easily won the Democratic primary and spent the day of his victory anesthetized, having a pacemaker installed.

Time reported that Fetterman recorded a video message to his children — Karl, 14, Grace, 11, and August 9 — in case he died.

Fetterman stayed off the campaign trail for most of the summer to recover from the stroke.

By August, however, he had returned and was able to give a standard stump speech, making a few mistakes, but the debate was the event that really highlighted how far he still had to go to fully recover.

Despite the debate performance, Fetterman beat Oz, the Trump-backed TV doctor, by five points.
