The Chef’s show kicked off on February 24 with over two million viewers, but that number would have quickly dropped to just 1.6 million within two days.
And now BBC bosses are said to be considering ‘pulling the plug on the game show’ with the ‘future at stake’.
A source said The daily star: ‘The top horns at the BBC already say they don’t know whether they want to commit to a second series. The future is at stake. ‘
The new show would have been a ‘big gamble’ for the channel amid its big budget and primetime slot, three nights a week.

But despite the claims, it has been said that bosses have yet to make a decision on the series, with a BBC spokesperson telling the publication: ‘It’s still on the air with a week to go so clearly there’s no decision yet . ‘
MailOnline contacted a BBC representative who declined to comment further.
It comes after Bank Balance reportedly endured a massive rating disaster earlier this week after losing 1 million viewers in just two days.
The BBC show kicked off in late February with 2.7 viewers tuning in, but days later that number is said to have dropped rapidly to just 1.6 million.

The show was also criticized on social media for its ‘annoying’ contestants, ‘confusing’ rules and ‘cringing’ banter.
In Gordon’s latest game show, two teams of contestants answered questions in an attempt to collect gold bars, which were then balanced in the hopes of winning a jackpot of £ 100,000.
But it seemed the new format wasn’t enough to get people glued to their screens, and BBC bosses were reported to be taking a huge gamble by putting the show in its 9pm primetime slot three nights a week.
Oh dear! This is because Gordon’s new primetime game show Bank Balance is reportedly stuck on the air after just a few weeks amid bad reviews.
