Gordon Ramsay has reflected on the tragic loss of his son Rocky after his wife Tana suffered a miscarriage at 20 weeks in 2016.
The chef, 56, admitted losing Rocky was “really tough” but said the loss brought his family closer together, before later welcoming their youngest child, Oscar, aged four.
Tana recently said Rocky was born with a “strong heartbeat” but was “too small to survive”, as she paid tribute to him on the seventh anniversary of his death.
Gordon explained that the family honored Rocky by naming their home in Cornwall after him and that they all had jewelry engraved with his name.
In an interview with PeopleGordon said: “Losing Rocky was really difficult, and then just being there and watching the trauma unfold, it’s just this life-changing moment…

‘A: I was grateful that we were there together. B: Tana always struggled with her bloods and so there were always problems getting those bloods exactly right.
“So there was this incredible celebration of the fact that she was pregnant and everything was okay.
“And all of a sudden, everything changes in 24 hours. So, I think if anything has brought the whole family closer together, it’s that Jack still has the little dog tag with Rocky.
“And we put together these amazing little gems that we connect through.
“And then the picture, then Rocky Bay House in Cornwall… And it’s difficult because we would never have Oscar if we hadn’t had Rocky, and so there was no substitute, far from there.
“But it just brought us a connection that you would never have felt in a normal situation, and so it was amazing.”
In July, Tana celebrated the seventh anniversary of losing Rocky in a thoughtful Instagram post, sharing a photo of her daughter Holly’s tattoo she got in memory of her late brother, as well as a family photo taken a few days before their tragic loss.
She wrote: “A happy photo taken of us celebrating (daughter) Megan’s 18th birthday, I was just under 20 weeks pregnant.”
“Little did we know, a few days later I would be holding our baby boy Rocky – born with a strong heartbeat, but too weak to survive.”
