Gordon’s weekend in Cornwall to visit his second home comes after he criticized his neighbors and locals.
Gordon’s weekend in Cornwall to visit his second home (pictured) comes after he criticized his neighbors and locals, joking that he didn’t like Cornish people.
The chef said he didn’t like the locals but “absolutely loves” the county in radio comments which he said were a joke in 2022.
He was even accused of a hate crime because Cornish people were recognized as a national minority.
It comes after he defended his family’s relocation to the coastal refuge during the pandemic, which also sparked outrage from his neighbours.
Gordon appeared on Zoe Ball’s BBC Radio 2 breakfast show saying: “Believe me, I love Cornwall, I just can’t stand Cornwall.”
When asked about the comment by stand-in presenter Vernon Kay, he refused to apologize and doubled down, adding: “I promise I meant it.”
Furious locals took to social media to condemn his comments this morning and said he was free to leave when he was disturbed.
Jo Pearce, who lives on a farm in Feock, near Falmouth, said: “Well, the feeling is totally mutual.”
She said: “There’s no doubt he’s a good cook, but his attitude absolutely stinks and I have to grit my teeth watching his cooking shows.”
She continued: ‘But hearing him speak in that breathy voice just irritates me.
The family came under fire again from locals after moving into their £4.4million beachside mansion during the pandemic.
“I’m pretty sure Cornwall and Cornwall wouldn’t miss him for a nanosecond if he didn’t live or visit here.”
Another local post, Linda Peters, said: “I never liked that man, he’s so horrible.” We never want him in Cornwall.
Angie Gillett said, “In that case, he doesn’t qualify for acceptance here.” How can he live here and not like those in Cornwall?
“If you can’t connect with this county and its true roots of Cornish people, then go to London as no one will notice or miss you.”
He added: “Aggressive in manner, full of himself, so it’s no wonder he can’t connect with the locals.”

Gordan moved to the coast with his five children Megan, 25, Holly and Jack, both 24, Tilly, 22, and Oscar.
But the family came under fire from locals, who accused them of disobeying government regulations at the time and “bringing the virus from London.”
In an interview with Radio Times at the time, Gordon said he is still baffled as to why they were so criticised, saying: “God knows why we took so much shit from the Cornish.” We lived down there; It’s just been a long time since we’ve been down there.
‘We didn’t sneak up there at all. “We got there at the right time and had an absolutely incredible time.”
Gordon angered locals after moving into his second home in Cornwall during the coronavirus crisis, despite the government urging Britons not to travel.
The Hell’s Kitchen star previously faced complaints from locals for demolishing his 1920s clifftop home to build two new houses, with neighbors accusing him of bringing ‘Legoland to Cornwall’.

The chef demolished the original five-bedroom property that had been on the site in Rock, Cornwall, which he bought for more than £4 million in 2015.
At the time, it was the second most expensive sale ever recorded in Cornwall and angered local residents.
The TV chef, originally from Johnstone, Renfrewshire, has gained planning permission from Cornwall Council to replace the 1920s property with a main house and a smaller second property, known as ‘The Garden House’.
The new house has two kitchens, a swimming pool, a wine cellar and four en-suite bathrooms, about 100 meters from the beach. Gordon was also given the green light to build a three-bedroom grass-covered boathouse, a stone’s throw from the water at high tide.
