Tech giant Google has been accused of waking up after its new Christmas advert featured a gender-fluid beauty influencer.

The Google Shopping ad features TikTok and Instagram personality Cyrus Veyssi, 30, searching for skincare products through the Google service.

Veyssi, who uses the pronouns, appears to be wearing women’s clothing as he complains of dry skin in the ad.

He said: ‘This winter drought isn’t it, especially when I have so many holiday looks to make, luckily I know exactly what.’

Veyssi starts using Google Shopping to look up face creams, before adding: ‘Moisturized skin is a gift for everyone, no packaging needed. Happy holidays to me.’

The content creator shared the video with his 580,000 followers on Instagram, he also has over 600,000 followers on TikTok.

In his post he said: ‘The winter boots have officially been cancelled. Thanks to Google’s Nearby filter, I’m ready to pull out all my holiday looks.”

The ad has since drawn the ire of social media users who accused the company of ‘woke’ for choosing Veyssi to star in their Christmas advert.

Conservative commentator and de-transitioner Oli London posted the video to his X account, saying: ‘Google launches WOKE Christmas campaign featuring a man wearing women’s clothing complaining about his skin.’

Others quickly joined in his criticism of the ad, with one saying: “I’m so sick of woke groups and companies pushing this disgusting degeneracy and mental illness.”

Another said: ‘Ridiculous Google. Not only is this insulting, but it also makes me not support anything related to Google. Why would you purposely use Bud Light yourself?”

Another commented: ‘Stop supporting companies that push degeneracy and perversion on the public.

‘We as consumers have the ultimate power. If we could learn to unite and work together.”

Someone else added: ‘Another company that is out of touch and not reading the room. I can’t avoid Google, but I don’t need to buy the products they pitch through this kind of woke crap.”

That was echoed by another user who posted: ‘Why are these motherfuckers trying to shove this crap down everyone’s throats? I’m getting sick and tired of this s***!’

Veyssi has recently been tipped as an emerging social media influencer and is currently co-hosting the Amazon Prime talk show ‘Influenced’.

His TikTok videos usually focus on his family dynamics and often promote beauty products.

The ad has since drawn the ire of social media users who accused the company of 'woke' for choosing Veyssi to star in their Christmas advert.

Forbes A story recently appeared about him in August detailing his recent rise in popularity and how his stardom began while living with his Iranian father during the pandemic.

A Google spokesperson said: ‘Everyone likes finding a good deal and saving money. That’s why we promote Google Shopping as the best way to do that.

“To put it into perspective, this was one sponsored Instagram post, which represented a fraction of a percent of a much broader Google Shopping campaign.”

It comes after Coca-Cola faced a backlash over their Christmas advert after replacing humans with AI in it.

The new 16-second advert for 2024 was developed exclusively using AI, meaning all the ‘actors’ are not real people and none of the footage was filmed on location.

Although the company claims the new commercial was an “efficient” way to save time and money, fans are not impressed.
