Google Docs can soon show you the number of words as you type

If you want to see how many words you have now typed in a Google Docs document, you must first select it from a drop-down menu: Tools> Word Count. (There is certainly a shortcut.)

But from this week on G Suite customers (read: Google Docs for Businesses) can activate one live word counter with which you see the number of words as you type:

"We have heard that displaying this information is useful for users working on documents that require a minimum or maximum number of words," writes Google.

No kidding, Google.

It must be rolled out to all G Suite users at the beginning of October. Hopefully the rest of us get it too.

Number of words: 112 words.
