A Google Cloud manager who has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife has been released.

Sonam Saxena, 43, trained by Harvard, reported that his wife Smriti was missing on Tuesday and was arrested on Wednesday.

The couple and their children enjoyed a vacation in Hawaii when her body was found on a beach.

Saxena was released without charge on Friday pending further investigation.

The family, from Bellevue, Washington, traveled with their two daughters aged 13 and eight to celebrate their oldest child’s birthday – a journey they make every year.

Saxena claimed that Smriti, a business program manager for Microsoft, had an asthma attack and disappeared as he went to get her inhaler from their room at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort.

On Wednesday morning the police found a body near where she was last seen and arrested Saxena a few hours later on suspicion of second-degree murder.

An autopsy has been performed, but more research is needed to determine its exact cause of death.

Before his arrest, Saxena – a product manager at Google Cloud in Seattle – placed a call for information on the Linkedin network.

He wrote: ‘My wife Smriti Saxena is missing. Can you please promote this tweet so that I can tell my daughters where their mother is #help. “

Saxena said he helped police and security agents search the area.
